Liverpool remain confident of landing Swansea captain Ashley Williams despite Arsenal having a £9m bid reected in January, according to the Guardian. but boss Arsene Wenger is expected to return with an improved offer in the summer as he looks to add an established leader to his central defence. Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is set to launch an £8million raid on his former club Swansea for their captain Ashley Williams, according to reports. rpool are also expected to throw in a season-long loan deal for their Argentine centre half Sebastian Coates, to help smooth over negotiations. A few snippets.
Lot's of stories in todays papers about Ash. I can see him going, will be a great bit of business again by the club. If Arsenal had a 9m bit turned down in January, then it's going to take around 12m to get him. I'm sure ML will land another barging like he did with Chico.
Absolutely. He's been eyeing someone called Albert Botia from Seville. Standing 6ft 2" his value is reported at £5.3 million. If we get £12 million for Ash then we get Botia and £7 million. Can't be bad. I just hope that he doesn't convert Ben into a centre back any time soon because he has said that wants to do that in the future. I just can't get my head around a 5ft 7" centre back. The likes of Andy Carroll will murder him in the air.
With £7million to spare, I'd enquire about Lescott at Man City. Can't see him there next season, and he has the experience of playing in Europe.
Probably couldn't afford his wages but we do need to start looking at the make up of our squad in terms of the number of foreign players.
Sorry guys but I still keep having nightmares about the Homegrown police visiting the Liberty and telling us we have too many foreigners and that that old Bloke in the Swans outfit in the stand has to play alongside chico- then it gets worse as I realise they mean OUR Chico!!
Good shout , and a very good replacement, would fit in a treat ,young British but a potential drop in wages for the lad ?

Ash is indispensable to the Swans and to our community. Ash is more than a player, he is our leader, our captain, the beating heart of our club. He is everything a Jack should be and must, MUST, never, ever be allowed to leave us, unless, of course, it's his direct wish to do so. His community and charity work borders on martyrdom, he is everywhere he is always needed. The beautiful Joni Mitchell once sang: "You don't know what you've got 'till its gone" but i do. If we sell Ash, we sell our soul.
