Brian McDermott appointed, 3 year contract. Time to get behind him, let's hope owners give him the full three years. Much happier now!!
Good luck to BM on his appointment as your new boss. Genuinely hope it goes well for him and Leeds Utd. Best of luck for the future.
I'm delighted with that news. Apart from being one of the very best managers around, I dont think we could realistically expect any better. Hope he gets the support from his employers as well as the fans
I think he's a decent appointment and he comes across as a nice bloke but as for being one of the very best managers around? Going a bit far there old chap.
Carmine CVs mean **** all Warnock proved that. He is one of the most successful managers of recent years in this division is he not?
We could appoint Jesus Christ Almighty instead, but if the board don't do their bit & back him, even he'd fail. This appointment is most welcome, but only the first step of the many required to put a fresh new approach in place.
In all fairness, I thought Reading were a poor side. I think because McDermott had the financial backing from the owners he was able to over-achieve. Reading were abysmal before January. Mid-table mediocrity at best. They splashed out on Roberts's wages and they went on a good run. I honestly think, unless your board back him, he won't achieve. (IMO)
Like I said my old mate he's a decent appointment and very well proven at this level. Thing is though the very best mangers around tend not to manage in The Championship. Do they now?
Ahemmm.......no question our Kenny with what he has to work with Longest serving manager in the Championship so enough said
Be interesting to see if McDermott indeed keeps Brown next season, or asks the club to pay him off and release him. McDermott does tend to favour a high energy game, which means a number of the current squad won't cut it. We can only hope McDermott is well supported by the owners, and gets rid of the wasters we have and gets in some quality mixed with some of our exciting prospects.
Welcome aboard Brian II. Good appointment in my opinion and in terms of who is available, and being realistic, I don't think we could have done that much better. He's got a good track record in this division and whether he's been backed or not, you still have to get the team out of the division. Lots of well backed managers have failed miserably in this league.
You never know, Brown may be used more on the coaching side than playing, so may as well get some use from him instead of just paying him off. Does he have anything to offer on that score? Lots of experience and advice for how you should play when younger, it's just he has lost his legs really
