At the Open Training event earlier in the week, quite a lot was made of Sean Davis who has apparently he's been given a PR job at the Club. Well what better publicity than this - exactly 12 years ago today: And look where we are now !! Footnote: Rufus Brevittt was the man sent off in the first half.
On a side note, it's amazing how dated that video looks considering it's only from 2001 - look at how baggy the shirts are!
Of all the players that have left us in our Premier League lifetime, I felt the loss of Sean Davies the most. He came up with us through the leagues, he was a local kid and he made his debut around the same time that I became a Fulham fan. I'm glad he's back at the club now in some capacity.
I'm quite ambivalent about Davis, to be honest. I remember him coming on for his debut (last couple of minutes when 3-0 up when he was 16) and loved him as a player for us, but it all ended messily and he has never come across as all that nice a bloke. I remember him making disparaging comments about other players in the media and stuff like that. I wish him well, but I'm not as excited about this news as others seem to be. There are lots of other Fulham old boys who I'd be happier to see taking on that kind of role.
