You seem to be the person to ask PGF as you have all the answers, pissed students are nothing new, little rich kids getting pissed is also not new. Yes some of these rich kids become politicians , daddies little boys growing up and not knowing what it's like to a days graft.

But you keep saying I'm out of my depth, but then you have given nothing to prove that, so I'll keep going until either I get bored of it or you do

The Bullingdon Club Jager, represents the acme of exclusiveness at Oxford, it is the club of the sons of nobility, the sons of great wealth, its membership represents the 'young bloods' of the university, and it is these pricks that are telling the working class to live off £53.00 per week!.............<cheers>

PS: David Cameron, George Osborne, and Boris Johnson were all members of this elite group at Oxford, and these are the pricks that are pretending to make out 'we are all in this together' while giving the rich tax breaks, and stuffing our elderly, poor and sick! Like I said they are all Thatcherites out to murder the working man, and it's time some of you woke up to this scum we have ruling this country!......................<ok>

So a country invades a territory not theirs,

That jagger is your problem....the both countries believe the Falklands are theirs and they have a case......They see us as invaders and they believe that strongly. So in their eyes they were doing nothing wrong......we were the aggressors.
We did not need to send a task force out there so quickly as the Argentinians were not killing anyone on the island and all they were doing was claiming back what they see is their island.......I dont know who is the real owners of the Falklands but it does not warrant a bloodshed for it. Thatcher used the situation for her own gratification and instead of getting around the table and debating the situation she sent a poor equipped task force and aggressively took it back not caring who would get killed. I was there i know the island is a worthless bit of land thats costs us billions of pounds to keep....its a **** hole of a place......She ignored any advice by the commanders out there. She murdered hundreds of argentinians on a ship that was not going to the Falklands and admiral sandy Woodward made sure she had the facts that the belgrano was outside the zone and heading back to Argentina.
This was a blow for someone like her as it ruined her plans and she ordered the sinking anyway and that was a crime....
Up until then there was no bloodshed and it could have stayed that way if she had listened to her advisers.....talks were the answer not bloodshed and she and she alone caused the deaths of many service personnel on both sides....people dont forget and like marbon said she dont deserve any military finally and she should have a quiet private sendoff.....mark my words this funeral wont go as smoothly as the government thinks it will and there is no need for it.

EVEN IN DEATH SHE CAUSES UNNESSESSARY MAYHEM

I thought you lot would have finished by now, but I can see you're going strong.

Very interesting reading everybody's point of view.

Two things I won't get dragged into debating Politics and Religion. I like the easy life!!!:emoticon-0105-wink:

Interesting that people here are criticising an elected politician from this country who had difficult decisions to make in wartime whilst saying nothing about the vicious military Junta that disappeared thousands of their own people if they opposed them. British people (the Islanders) would have been under these thugs' rule if we'd have done nothing.

The Junta, being good catholics, drew the line at executing pregnant women who spoke out against them, so they waited until they gave birth, took the child away and gave it to military couples before drugging the poor mothers and throwing them out of a plane into the sea. They did this with the support of the Catholic Church (wonder what the current Pope was doing at the time?). I'm not making this up. The current government in Argentina uses DNA testing to try and ensure the children who were stolen are reunited with their real familes, and the 'kidnappers' of the regime are still being put on trial.

These were the people who had taken over the Falklands. Whether we should 'own' the Islands or not we couldn't leave them under that jackboot and something had to be done. Had a Labour Government been in power I seriously doubt we'd have done anything. Even if a different Tory Prime Minister was in charge. As Simon Weston said, "Right Prime Minister, right time."

As for the Belgrano, are you seriously suggesting that the biggest cruiser they had wouldn't have been used in the later conflict? Stop being so naive. Whilst loss of life is regrettable this was war, and the sinking of the Belgrano sent the Argentinian navy scurrying into port for the remainder of the war. They were terrified to send out their big carrier Veinticinco de Mayo because they knew what would happen to it if they did. So perversely, the sinking probably saved many more lives in the long run.

Until you have had to take difficult and momentous decisions that effect the lives of thousands you really haven't a clue.

As for Mabon's comments on Scargill they are laughable. Sorry Mabon, but they are. This is a guy who, like his Dad was a Communist and who actually was a vociferous opponent of Glasnost and in particular, Leck Walesa's Solidarity Union in Poland. I've no doubt that he was a man of conviction and I can admire that, but butting heads with Thatcher? There was only going to be one winner.

Argentina's politics has nothing to do with us just like ours has nothing to do with them. We cant tell them how to run their country so everything you said dragon is irrelevant.
the issue is the Falklands and the Falklands only. we say its ours and they say its theirs,
Are you serious when you say thatcher had the right to sink a ship outside the exclusion zone WE set up that was in international waters heading home and knew it was full of service personnel...what right did she have? she murdered them people in cold blood for no reason than to boost her ego....she was advised by the highest British commander not to do it......she acted no better than the 9/11 7/7 terrorists did...she killed innocent people who had no chance......so dont come all this junta rubbish it has nothing to do with us how they run their country.....plenty of welsh people live there. its all about the island and who owns the sovereignty, she should have sat down and talked and if she had done that like many of her advisers wanted her to do many lives would have been saved.....she was out of order and a war criminal...

Dai I'm Dragon! Your replying to Knackered, for heavens sake don't mix us up please!........................<doh>

By the way Dai, I can't disagree with anything you have said, your on the money for sure, but the Junta in Argentina at the time was disappearing it's own people? But I still agree we could have handled it better, there are some people (few) that your pleased are no longer walking this earth, and she was one of them!...................<ok>

The great thing about Maggie is that by ****ing off the bitch has brought together fans of football teams in unity who are usually at each others throats.

Across all the forums I frequent, besides the London City Clubs, the majority of fans have celebrated the ****s death.

A thing that is rarely discussed is that our boys who got the order to sink it couldn't believe what they were being told to do and hesitated. That truth has been buried though.
