I'm firmly on the left. A liberation theologian. I can reconcile ideas of liberating the people of the world from poverty and oppression in the same way that the early Liberation theologians who were involved in armed resistance in South America.
As we are talking about schools this will be quite apt - you started it and that would be asking a school to exclude children not asking it to teach a certain subject Religion in schools is not only a basic need but is important to those who have religion. It is taught along side maths etc, it doesn't interfere with education and does not teach hatred. If you have no link to religious schools then it has no effect on you so why the need to get rid of them?
Religion and white supremacy are very similar: one teaches that believers are better than non-believers, the other teaches that whites are better than blacks. I suppose the only thing in favour of religion is that you can change what you believe.
He's right though. Not all religions preach that believers are better than non-believers, but many do. Just like fascist groups.
If this is correct, then this necessarily cannot be; Like who? Certainly not any Christian denomination, not Islam and not Judaism.
Islam definitely does Rebel. Have you read any of the Quran? It is very scathing towards non-believers.
I'm sure you're wrong there Jip. I thought that Muslims loved people of other denominations and those with no religious fervour? Is that not how the Middle East got the nickname "The Happiest Place on Earth"?!?
The Quran teaches to judge a person on their merits, not on their religion. What Immams teach may or may not be that.
Ah, so faith can be twisted and distorted to suit the message of the person delivering it? Brilliant way to educate children.
If you have a Twitter account I suggest you have a look at Richard Dawkins' most recent activity. Makes for some very interesting reading. @RichardDawkins
Richard Dawkins - the Messiah! I don't have a twitter but I can see his page, what am I meant to be looking at?
Ok... But the IRA are Liberation theologians Apologies if you were only describing yourself as agreeing with the ideas of Liberation theologians but I took it that you mean that the IRA fit in with this ideology.
