.....we would be almost promoted by now Know its a pointless exercise as you should always play until the final whistle with the same intensity as for the previous 90+ minutes but was looking back over the season and noticed how bad we have been at conceding late goals (we have also had the benefit of late goals): Crys Pal away +2 Ipswich home -1 Peterboro home +2 Cardiff away -1 Blackburn away -1 Blackpool away -2 Wolves away -2 Blackpool home -1 Burn home -2 Overall -6 points from goals in the 90th min or beyond...... It is no surprise that we have such a good goal difference compared to Hull as we have played some lovely football and scored some fantastic goals but we have also defended very poorly at times and I really hope it doesnt come back to bite us in the proverbial... Lets hope that the last 2 games are a sign that we now know how to play for the full 90+? I think it will be a tall order to overtake Hull now as the fixtures although winnable as people are quick to point out, are still in my opinion very tricky: Peterborough - unbeaten in 8, desperate for points, already done double over Cardiff Millwall - in my opinion our most winnable game as they will hopefully be emotionally and physically drained from an FA Cup semi late on saturday (which hopefully goes to extra time before they lose on pens) Blackburn - our 2nd easiest game on paper but they still have some v good players that could punish us if we are not careful (eg Jordan Rhodes) and like Peterborough are desperate for points Leicester - our 2nd hardest fixture after Peterborough, they will prob need to win to get into/cement a playoff place and again have some very good players (Nugent, Knockaert, Schmeichel, Morgan etc) - hopefully they will still be low on form and morale. Leeds - if we need to win this won to go up we will.... Whatever happens it has been a great season the excitement the likes of which have not present since the GT part 2 or the season of King, Young and Henderson...and in my opinion these are close to having been surpassed. Lets enjoy the rest of it and hopefully will be the start of another golden era at the Vic
How many late goals have we scored though...would this not nullify the other ones? I remember when we were in the Prem the second time, we let in a stupid amount of late goals.
Actually, Vydra's goal against peterboro was in the 90th minute, not injury time. To actually we would have -8.
That certainly was a regular feature of that season. I think this is where my phobia about listening to games on the radio or watching Final Score came from.
