And if you lose your first 3 games 10-0 you're guaranteed another 3 games. It is clearly both a league and a knockout competition, so to say a team that wins 'doesnt deserve it' is preposterous. They have to overcome BOTH elements of competition.
The overall ability of the squad is better than any other in the world. Having the best player in the world helps as well.
You couldve said the same for Real Madrid's Galacticos. They bought nearly all the best, most valuable players in the world yet they werent a great team. On another note, most people - even Barca's staunchest fans - would concede that PSG shouldve won last night. Yes? That's a given. If they had, would Barca still be the best team in the world? Or would it be 'an off night'? And if the latter, how many 'off nights' are you allowed before it doesnt become an 'off night' and you're just not as good as everyone thought?
Since 2003/04, no side has won the Champions League more than once, Barca have won it three times, that shows their recent record as the most successful side in Europe. In the last 4 seasons, they've won their domestic title 3 times and they're about to comfortably make it 4 in 5. Then there's the simple issue of their players. Vales, Dani Alves, Pique, Puyol, Alba, Busquets, Fabregas, Xavi, David Villa, Alexis Sanchez, Iniesta, Mascherano and then there's that fella Messi. You're clearly not going to change your mind BCC but most people in football from players, pundits, managers and fans would say Barca are the best club side in the world at the minute and one of the best ever. If you don't, hey ho, just opinions.
My hope is that Barcelona and Real Madrid are kept apart in fridays draw. But the voices in my head are saying Bayern Munich will win the champions league this year. Hope not.
Probably when you stop winning all the competitions you're allowed to enter on a fairly regular basis. Why should PSG have won? Did they score more goals? No. Barca were in second gear, they just did what was required of them.
We're talking about now, this minute, not 10 years of football. If you asked me who has been the best team in Europa over 10 years I'd say Barca. Similarly if you ask me come the end Champions League final in May who the best team in Europe is I will easily be able to answer this.
Considering everyone says "The premier league is the best league in the world" Then you would have to say Manchester Untied is the best team in the world !!! So i am not getting how Barcelona fc are the best team in the world ?
And BINGO - admittedly I was fishing and I got EXACTLY the answer I wanted. The aim of football is to score more goals than the opposition in the game you are playing. Chelsea did that last year in the Champions League - beating Barca on the way - and consequently eventually were the best team in Europe. Thankyou and goodnight.
Even if Dortmund win 2-1 via an offside goal and a penalty that's incorrectly awarded and Barca have 2 players sent off in the first half for tackles where they actually won the ball. You'd still say, purely on the basis that they won the game, they are the best team in Europe.
I really do not understand the point you are trying to make. It is not hard to understand - sometimes in a knock out competition (such as the Champions League) the best team does not always win it. Take the league cup for instance - teams play weakened teams throughout the competition resulting in you having a final such as Swansea v Bradford
It doesn't change the point that OLM stated, it's a one off game where anything could happen in a knockout competition, it doesn't always represent who is the best team.
Presumably, BCC thinks the best four teams in English football are Man City, Chelsea, Wigan and Millwall.
No, they werent the top 4 in the competiton to decide who is the best team in the pinnacle of club tournament. Hope this helps. I really dont see why people keep referencing competions that clubs openly admit arent a priority. Youre comparing apples with yachts.
