I have a sneaky feeling that Bale could end up at Man U as successor to Giggs as a stepping stone to a move to either Real or Barca.

Spurs sell to Man U (or any other English club) and they are as good as admitting they are a 2nd tier club in English Football. Can't see it.

Seem to recall a certain Bulgarian going the same way not that long ago. Levy is a shrewd man and if United offer the right money Bale will be off.

DL is right, I think Levy would only sell to a foreign team. You recall your Bulgarian, I recall a Croatian who didn't get the English move he wanted, and my example is a little more recent.

We'll keep Bale if we qualify for CL, which thankfully looks straightforward <yikes>. Just a routine victory over Man City and then a stroll against Chelsea at the Bridge and we are sorted.

Spurs moving to another English club isn't a big step up for Bale. None of them are THAT far ahead of Spurs, different when Berbatov was there as United were a lot better as were their prospects.

Only significant step up for Bale would be at Barca, Real or Bayern. Only 23 and doesn't really need to move until he's 24/25. I'd go as far as saying Bale to Man U is as likely as G*llas back to Arsenal.

What? How would the likes of Man Utd not be a massive step-up? Moving from a team that wins no trophies to one that wins regularly? Moving from a team that struggles to qualify for the Champions League to one who is in it every season? Spurs are miles behind Man Utd. Spurs would need to spend 100m+ to get near United in the league.

Spurs took 4 points off Man U this season (should have been 6). Man Utd would be a step up but not THAT much of one, Bale could certainly do a lot better anyway in my view. Man Utd are a massive club and global brand so Spurs are miles behind them in that aspect but I don't agree they are as far off as you suggest. Spurs are arguably stronger than Man U in at least 1/3 of the pitch. Their big problem is mentality like us in the 90s. They are there or thereabouts but don't truly believe they belong with the big boys.

They bottled the 2007 FA Cup QF, won the 2008 Carling Cup, lost the 2009 Carling Cup final (undeservedly), bottled the 2010 FA Cup Semi, bottled the 2012 FA Cup Semi. This is a perennial "nearly" team with the quality to win trophies, the big problem is mentality and holding nerve in key situations. Man U are nowhere near as good as some may believe, they will win a few PL titles here and there but are a long way off in Europe and will always come unstuck in the domestic cups against any half decent sides.

Also the only team that you mentioned who would even want bale is Madrid and that is only if they got rid of ronaldo. Barca wouldn't want him as he doesn't play their style of football. Bale is a direct, shoot on sight player that they would have zero interest in and bayern already have top class wingers and bale wouldn't be much of an upgrade.

Ronaldo is 29 next year and contract runs our soon. Real are a ruthless club and they will undoubtedly want to rebuild again. Don't be surprised if you see Ronaldo at PSG. Guardiola will want to stamp his authority on this Bayern side so don't be surprised to see Robben (who doesn't pass) off either, Bale isn't as good as him (yet) but is more of a team player.

It would, spurs have a very weak squad and it would take years and lots if cash to get near united. You say that spurs are stronger in 1/3 of the pitch, it would take big investment to get on par on the other 2/3. If your team is only better in 1/3 then you are miles away. And that is just the first 11 never mind the rest.
