nope, I mean what the ****ing hell has she done! that other stupid american bint on the x-factor is another that can **** off aswell.
Captains Night. A meal and a few pints afterwards means you don't get home in daylight! Its a dirty job but I'm keen to do my share.
And the squalling know all cow did the Olympics as well! Of all the class female singers in GB, they chose that no mark.
Glenda Jackson's speech was vile and disgusting, I guess this washed up old crone is only bitter because she got fecking nowhere in the Blair Government!
Why bother turning up if she felt so much bitterness towards Mrs Thatcher, this just makes her look vindictive and nasty but as I have discovered over the last few days the left wingers have the monopoly on compassion don't they!
I presume you think John Bercow was wrong to put that pompous prick in his place for misinterpreting Parliamentary Law?
Dave no matter what people thought of her in life she is entitled to be shown some respect in death afterall she is a Mother and a Grandmother and her family must feel sickened by some low-lifes glorying in her death! I thought that we were supposed to be living in a civilized society! And all this hatred and vile abuse from people who link themselves to the 'caring and compassionate' party! If all the things she did were wrong then why for example weren't all the pits reopened or industries taken back under state ownership under the 13 years of the Labour Government?
I understand what you're saying, but believe me, you have sadly underestimated the effect she had on the lives of many thousands of people, to a lot of people she is no better than Pol Pot!
Absolute load of tripe! Sorry I know this is not the forum to debate this but I just find it disgusting that some people who really don't know the full story or weren't even around at the time can glory in someone else's death! And to compare her to a mass murderer is just beyond belief especially after the leading role she played in helping to set millions in Eastern Europe free from the communist tyranny! It is also worth reminding people that back in the 1970s Jack Jones who was the leader of the TGWU union was later found to be a KGB agent and passing secrets to the Russians. If Micheal Foot had been elected in 1983 then we would all be speaking Russian by now.
I lived and worked in County Durham, in the 80's not just during the Miners' Strike itself, but through the comprehensive de-industrialisation of an entire region. I witnessed the so called 'weak' going to the wall; I supported a woman to raise the money to bury her son, tragically killed while looking for work. We had to beg from charities, because the first thing the Thatcher government did was to stop grants to people who were long term disabled. During the strike itself, I was stopped by Police barriers at least once a week, because I had to drive from my home into the coalfield. I could tell true stories that would make your hair curl, about the militarisation of the Police force, where the local bobbies were no longer trusted, so the Met were bussed in, waving their £20 notes out of the coaches, no identification numbers on their uniforms. It was a year of hell, as we witnessed the demolition of whole courageous hardworking communities. The only saving grace was the good humour and comradeship of people from very different backgrounds, and the support from others, both in Britain and abroad.
I am with JWM on this one. Regardless of what you think of the woman she is dead and glorifying this shows a basic lack of human decency - she is dead and cannot be affected by the taunts but her family are grieving and don't really need a bunch of spiteful bastards glorifying in her death. I wonder how the families of the likes of Bob Crowe/Glenda Jackson/George Galloway would feel if they get the same treatment when they shake of their collective mortal coils. Thatcher has had demntia for a decade and no political influence for 20 or so years so why so many young people are out in the streets celebrating is beyond me. Even if you hate her she has suffered a slow decline and death and that should be enough for you. I don't think a minutes silence at this weekends games is appropriate but neither is rejoicing in the death of an old woman. Decency to your friends is effortless, decency to your enemies shows class. Compassion costs nothing, bitterness achieves nothing.
Not rejoicing Norfolkbhoy, but for many of us, her death has brought back memories which will be with us for rest of our lives.
I don't doubt your experiences during this period but there was a lot of wrong done on both sides and I just wish the media would be more balanced in its reporting. In many ways the trades unions are also to blame for some of their goings on like secondary picketing, preventing law abiding people from going to work, intimidating the families of those that wanted to work. My Dad was a union shop steward for the NUR and had always been a proud trades unionists but even he turned against the movement back in the early 80s. He had realized over many years that the Unions had become far too powerful and would one day cut their own throats after bringing down the elected government in 1974. I feel genuinely sorry for all those people that suffered during those years but the country needed some strong medicine back then and it fell to someone who was courageous enough to make those really hard decisions. I'm sure more could and should have been done in the aftermath and that will be to her shame but the fact remains that the calls she made were the right ones.
Not wanting to get involved in politics, but I can remember what it was like before she came to power! Mortuarys full of the dead because of strikes, streets full and I mean full of rubbish bags because of strikes, 3 day weeks because of strikes, etc etc. A nice place it wasn't! Mrs Thatcher is dead, take the politics out of it, her family should have a chance to grieve without 20 years olds rejoicing in their misery!!
