Today is a big day in the future or non-future of Pompey. The administrators are hoping in the High Court to force through the sale of the club to the Supporters Trust. They have a bid of £3m lodged with the administrators to buy the ground, but one of the many previous owners holds a charge over it for £11m. The judge will hear a number of different valuations and will be asked to decide just what it is worth. Contracts have been signed between the Supporters Trust and administrators to buy the club provided the valuation is within their means but time is rapidly running out as the club have to come out of administration before the end of the season, or the FL will take away the 'golden share'.

There has been a second bid by a man who introduced Bassini to the club, but the FL say that it is the Trust or Bust. I wonder if the Baz connection had any bearing on their thinking?

It will be interesting how they define race. Will race be solely based on skin colour or will making comments about Welsh mating habits or calling the English Sasseachs be construed as racism. Will some of the more right wing fans of Israeli teams have to be careful about what they call Palestinian or Israeli Arab players?

Or will referring to L*t*n as 'no longer in the race' be outlawed too? :)

From a Watford point of view this evenings game between Crewe and Brentford may be of interest. Nathan Ellington was an unused sub for Crewe. Lee Hodson and Toumani Diagouraga were used subs for Brentford. Marcello Trotta was an unused sub. Richard Lee, Harry Forrester and Rob Kiernan weren't even on the bench.

Ticket sales for the cup semis must not be going well - I just received an e-mail from the FA offering tickets to Millwall v Wigan

The FA would have to pay me to go to a Wigan v. Millwall game - inclusive of travel and sustenance costs...........

TBH Millwall only have 31k going because its so local to them...

Afteral they will have about 9k against us on Tuesday.

Goal Line Technology seems to be coming in soon which is good news but I feel it will be expanded in the future to include offsides and handballs as managers will demand futher action

and then penalties, throw-ins, yellow cards, red cards..........

We'll no doubt end up having robot refs, each hooked up to all the various 'bits' of technology enabling them to make an instant decision. :(

And when there's a power cut ten minutes in to a match, it will have to be abandoned because humans can't do the job. <rofl>

Obviously the use of technology has to be limited to what can be carried out quickly, no reason why a fifth official can't be in a sealed room with a live feed to a screen, the pundits are able to view controversial decisions from a million different angles, a fifth official would be able to judge a contentious decision in seconds! The main benefit from this is there is so much money to be earned in the game today that it is now a business first and sport second! Ask any successful businessman if he wants his big decisions to be based on luck, or on fact!

Very true - but as I mentioned previously, doing this whilst focusing purely on a type of incident that rarely happens is a bit odd - overkill even.

They cannot sing there is "only one Brian McDermott" though - his namesake is the successful manager of Leeds Rhinos.
