Personally, I think it's a lot of money to do one job. Whereas you can have video replays that can do the same and more. If Rugby, Tennis and Cricket can afford to do it then so can football. Some argue that it will make the game worse, but it hasn't degraded any of those other sports. Do you agree with technology to assist the refs in football? If so how would you like to see it used?
They could begin with simply stopping the clock for when the ball is not in play, if they want to make football more consistant...I still don't understand why they keep it running. Leads to time wasting and accusations of bias with extra time. Goal line technology seems really expensive for just doing one job which is rarely required in the first place. Just use the already in place 100 cameras and a TV screen. Make the 4th official do something besides stand up with a board showing 1-4 minutes of extra time (removed with point 1 anyway). People hark on about human error making the game exciting and 'traditional'...until a decision goes against them rather than for them.
My thoughts are the same. I don't think it will make the game any more or less exciting, just more fair. How many times has a game been 'killed' due to a bad decision? How many times has a game been more exciting due to a bad decision?
That says two things; one, that the extra time currently added is totally wrong so we should just pull bigger number out of the 4th official's arse instead. Two, it shows just how much game time you're being screwed out of for your 40 quid ticket. You're paying to watch a dead ball
I understand what you are saying but that is how the game as always been since well before any of us were born! If you're buying a ticket expecting to see ninety minutes of football then you are an idiot
It was said a few years back that the average time the ball is actually in play in a football match is like 20 minutes - which is ridiculous really! People like Bale taking 4 minutes to line up a free kick that hits the wall pisses me off royally.
When does the clock stop in Rugby? Doesn't it still run at a line out? or when a kick is being taken?
