As he said it may take a while. Let's wait until we see what we do in the transfer market in the summer until forming a judgement about how long it will take.

I have a feeling we will be very angry come the end of the transfer window. If Wiggins and Solly go, we are buggered. Stephens can gladly go but we wont sign anyone even half decent if the board don't get some investment sorted out. We are sat on a knife edge here, one wrong move and this club will fall again, but on the flipside we get something right and we are play-off contenders next season if we sort our home form out. Why is being a Charlton fan always so stressful? Were we all tomatoes in a previous life or something?

''After picking up seven points from their last three games, Charlton lie 12th in the Championship - seven points above the relegation zone. ''

    Load of vacuous waffle.

"The promised land of the Premier League is where we would like to get to."
Obviously. Every club down to the level of Kent County League Division Two East would prefer to be playing in the Premier League.

"It may take a while, but we are on the way back."
Maybe. But just saying so won't convince anyone. Again, every manager has to claim his team are improving if he wants to hang onto his job.

"My remit was to make us a solid and stable Championship club,"
We should all be happy with our position in the Division, but there is nothing solid or stable about it. A few more unlucky bounces or refereeing decisions and we could be in the bottom three. A few more strokes of luck and we could be in the play-off places.

"Primarily, I have got a League One squad really, with just one or two additions."
What does this mean? Last year we were told the aim was to build a Championship level team. He seems to have done that. Is he now saying that he failed to do so? Are Hamer, Solly, Morrison, Cort, Wiggins, Jackson, Kermorgant, Stephens and Fuller League One level? I should think they would be insulted.

"In regards to our budget, we are nowhere near the top half. For us to be where we are right now is very good for us."
This seems the only part which isn't waffle. A statement that we are doing better than our budget. All credit to him. But by the same token that means we are extremely vulnerable to losing many of our better players.

Sadly, the reality is that you need a sizable injection of cash from outside to get into the Premiership. Once there it may be possible to fund yourself for a few years and survive in the lower reaches (like Fulham). After a while your fans will become bored and restless as happened in Curbs day. Sooner or later you will have one season where everything goes wrong, and before you know it you are back in the Championship (or worse).

I would be interested in hearing from Powell when some big money is on the way, otherwise it is pointless making generalised remarks about self-evident facts. I presume just another effort to sell season tickets.

I watched it last night. Viewing/listening is more highly recommended than reading.

Any links to listen i guys over reading it ?

The very fact of being so close to playoffs and so close to the bottom leaves no room for criticism in my opinion, we are in the same position as most others in the middle.. why would we have done any better with what we have ?

I am happy, are any other charlton fans happy right now ?

Yes- as Harold Wilson said- "A week's a long time in football" or something similar.
