Brilliant post BB. Just wanted to highlight this particular point as I have a mate who lives in Leith. We used to work together in bandit central back in the days we are talking about and he ended up in Leith doing up an old Lead Smelter factory in the middle of Leith and making some nice apartments out of it. I still keep in touch with him despite his continued support of them! and had a few nights in The Port of Leith with him. It's quite upmarket these days I hear!

Much to my surprise, it certainly is.

Ever since returning to UK, my wife has been reminding me of my promise to show her around the area in which I was raised - and I have regularly resisted because my memories are that it was a distinctly awful place. To give you an idea, if you have seen the film Trainspotting, it was filmed in the suburb of Edinburgh that we initially moved to to get away from Leith - it wouldn't often be classified as a step up from anywhere, but it was an improvement.

Thanks to the power of Google Maps, I only recently found out how much it had changed - and we plan to go down there during the summer break for a good look around.

We have two visitors to our board recently - both Welsh, both non Watford supporters, both hate MT and yet contrast their contributions. Jck is unfailing polite and makes his points well - whether or not you agree with him and rudebwoy ........ can anyone make sense of his contributions? Has anyone seen a single cogent argument or proper reply from him? Wumming is rare on not606

Hi Leonardo, I said this on your PDC thread, you Watford lads and lasses are a credit to the whole forum, you manage to have different opinions whilst politely acknowledging another's right to have a different view!

Well done all of you, especially Dan and H for running a great ship!

Just seen the best Maggie quote ever...

"The problem with Socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money"

I don't think I will be mourning or celebrating, I'm just happy to be here and not to have to do either. I may just sit and raise a glass of German beer and quietly say here's to you you old dragon ! Although I disagreed with more or less everything she did I do not hold her responsible for the neo liberalalist hell hole that has nearly destroyed the England that I love. The ideology which she represented but didn't create. A World in which wants are encouraged, in which acquisitiveness and selfishness are virtues and where 'The only social responsibility of business is to maximise profits' to quote Milton Friedman one of the darlings of Maggie) would have happened anyway. If there is any sadness it is because a piece of history of which I was a part is slipping away - and that makes me feel old !

I do wish that people would stop using the expression socialism to describe everything that they don't like. On these threads I've seen it used to describe everything from North Korea to the present French government (even David Cameron) This reminds me of McCarthyism !

It is my humble opinion that she only had two faults!

Everything she said and everything she did.

Sorry cologne, but François Gérard Georges Nicolas Hollande is the second Socialist Party President of the Fifth French Republic, after François Mitterrand. If he thought that you didn't think he was a socialist he would get quite upset. Mind you he seems to have rather a lot of other things to deal with at the moment.

Morning Leonardo, I know, H speaks very highly of you and that's more than enough for me, you didn't make it onto my list last night because you were on the night before, but you should receive a share tonight! <ok>
