ain't exactly a bargain given his 100k wages and how much would anyone be willing to take a huge paycut...

He will go to either a chamions league club or a club that can pay silly wages.

If he would take a 40k a week pay cut to 50k a week, then I'd definitely take him.

    We've moved on.
There will be no route to SJP for him.

He's lightning quick and a deadly finisher. He's a different type of finisher to Cisse. Cisse finishes instinctively. Remy plots his target and scores.

Remy's also good in the air. I'd have him in a heart beat. I'm gutted we never signed him.

teams reported to be interested in signing him:

    Us
    Villa
    Spuds
    Arsenal

I just found these few doing a quick search. Ff the likes of Spuds and Arsenal are interested I don't think we'll have much chance of signing him.

I've got no issue with him. He owed us no loyalty and showed us none. Fair enough.

He obviously would haveto fit in the wage structure but subject to that would be a good acquisition

I'd be pretty excited if we went back in for Remy and managed to get him, he's a fast, good striker. I would prefer it if we went after Aubameyang first though with Remy as the backup option.

I heard it was £6m release clause somewhere else, but I guess it could be owt really. Like someone has already said, if he'd take a pay cut to £50k a week I'd have him in a shot.

It's a no from me, we've had mercenaries before, and it got us relegated.

Not fussed either way. Good player and a goalscorer, they are hard to come by. Got nowt against him, he made his decision and went for the extra cash. I don't think the figures offered to him were even close and he knew if they went down he'd be getting this 2nd pay day. It was a no brainer financially speaking.

I doubt we'd go back as Ashley has a bit of an ego and won't have liked being knocked back. That said 6-8m is a bargain and he does like a bargain. There are plenty other good strikers. I'm not convinced he is what we need to balance our attack. Personally i'd like to see a physical threat a la Carroll/Bony, and then a third option of a deeper Beardsley type signed. I'd then like Campbell used as the 4th option (you could treat as your Beardsley type?). Then we have all bases covered.

Agreed. Have people forgot that we paid for his expenses for come over and talk. He didn't fly up here and instead signed for the bottom club.

Even if he is doing ok and scoring the odd goal, he is a mercenary, can be relied upon for nothing, and has zero trust in my book. He's also injury-prone, which is another problem with highly paid players.

Well, Ba didn't do us any harm, for all that he saw us as a stepping stone.

Got no problem with mercenaries, so long as they earn their wage. I'm one at work. I expect you are too. No real reason to think most of the people on the pitch will be anything else.

The trouble with our relegation season (well, one of them) was that we had the wrong mercenaries.

Haven't seen enough of Remy to determine his worth, because he's been injured. If he can stay fit til the end of the season he may be worthy another look, but from what I've seen he has a definite air of Cisse about him. Form reliant and can miss a bucket load before finishing a harder chance.

We need another footballing secret, preferably a cousin or younger brother of Demba Ba :emoticon-0111-blush

He has been unlucky with injuries, but what a cracking goal he scored at the weekend. <badger>
