4.10 Nottingham Extraterrestrial 10/1 Keeping this short but I think Richard Fahey's 9 year old is worth a dabble. Although winless since 2011, Extraterrestrial is clearly a well handicapped horse on a mark of 80 and proved more than capable of performing with great credit off higher marks last season. In May of last year, he was beaten a staying on 0.75L beaten 3rd off a mark of 90 at Ripon and again ran another mighty race in defeat when beaten half a length by the reopposing Osteopathic Remedy off a mark of 86 at Ayr in September. He took a well deserved 5 month break break in what was a season where he was very highly tried (12 runs) before returning in the Doncaster Spring Mile 11 days ago with a good effort. Off a mark of 82, Extraterrestrial was settled in the midfield and was just about getting into things with a good run before being squeezed out of things and he had to be snatched up quickly by Lee Topliss which halted all his momentum. However, he did run on again after that to grab 8th and beaten just over 6L. Although I don't think he would have gone close to winning, I do feel he could have perhaps grabbed 3rd or 4th and it was a pleasing reappearance run. Dropped 2lb by the handicapper, he's now on a career low mark and on a couple of last seasons efforts he clearly retains most of his ability. Barry McHugh takes the ride and I definitely feel that Extraterrestrial should strip fitter for his return 11 days ago. Although he's a difficult horse to win with, I do feel he's overpriced at 10/1 with Richard Fahey in such great form and although this does look an open contest I'm hopeful of a really good showing from this 9 year old and hopefully he can get another elusive win under his belt.
Agreed ROTO, I've put him in an e/w Lucky 15 with HELLO SAILOR (3rd), TESTOSTERONE (1st) and SINGERSONGWRITER
Had just come on to put up Extraterrestrial and happy to see ROTO and Princess have put him up and ROTO has made a good case for him. Was just going to keep it short as I haven't got time for write up. best of luck. Only bet for me today.
Ran a blinder 3rd at 14s is a decent return. Well done ROTO and Princess. Just that short priced one to go now
Extraterrestrial goes straight into the notebook. Based on that run, he is definitely handicapped to win. Travelled into the race very nicely but just didn't have the pace to quicken and make up the ground on the front two in what was a slowly run race. Definitely will appreciate a strong gallop and should be winning soon. Nice little drift to 14/1 for e/w players.
ROTO had 4 come through on my tracker today Extraterrestrial - 3rd at 14s The Noble Ord - 2nd at 11/4 Fils Anges - 3rd at 7/4 Master Speaker 6.50 Dundalk (1-5 shot ) surely he must win.
This Singersongwriter has been backed like defeat out of the question, I have just backed Minimee at 10's without the favourite which seemed a fair price, if it comes off however will likely be 8 lengths behind him. There is only one other horse in single figures and under 14-1.
I know Rainbow 25-1 second, what can you do. I would have had it each way but did not want to waste the win part on what I saw as a hopeless task trying to beat the favourite. I thought he blew it at the start also Princess but when you watch he started his run half a length down from the winner at the same time and ended up 6 lengths behind him at the post. The winner looks decent enough and won it convincingly.
Don't know what that prat was playing at on Arizona John, he thought he was riding Frankel, rather than a 74 rated handicapper. I hope punters really give him some stick, as he deserves it
Just watched the race Shergar and completely shocked by such inept jockeyship. He cost the horse all momentum by asking him to pick up and then taking a pull whilst looking around only for a horse in full stride to pass him. I am finding it hard to see the difference between that ride and a horse getting beat due to the jockey dropping his hands. I know it was not on the line and so the result cannot be called with certainty, but anyone could see that if that horse were allowed to stride on when he first picked up he would have won.
My mate PM co owns Waffle,Hitchens and Pearl Ice amongst others and it was on the last named that the jockey in question produced an absolute howler at Thirsk last May when the cash was down. How he got that horse beaten still astounds me. It didn't go down well needless to say.
