Where as blaming thatcher for hillsborough and English clubs being banned from Europe is perfectly logical??
They'd much rather point out how wonderful it is to see him back rather than take him to task about the bollocks he actually posted Can't say I agreed with your uneducated etc comment those Sweats you bastard
Of course. Over generalisation and blatant anthropomorphism is fine when trying to condemn Thatcher, but beyond the pale when discussing the other side of the argument.
Nobelox - the guy who posted that Thatcher is to blame for English football being banned from Europe. Donga has also returned I see.
I've not really been on their board. I saw a scouser comment on the thatcher thread on the geordie board blaming her for hillsborough.
I'm rather chuffed Cuthbert didn't quote me and say that I was also over generalising. Let that be a lesson to you both!! Well, I see Malaga were bent over and bummed by the officials last night, good to see that this champions league will have been ultimatley decided by some very, very dodgy refereeing. Just like it tends to be over the years, at some point during the course of the tournamant a ref or lino will make a decision which will change entirely its course. Rubbish.
I don't wish to argue with you. I did hate Thatcher and what she stood for. However, I am neither illiterate or uneducated and my father was never out of work until he reached retirement age. That was the part of your post that I highlighted. I have never blamed her for Hillsborough. She had no control over the tragedy itself. However, for the police to cover-up the cause of the deaths of 96 people, she would have to have had total complicity in that cover-up. A massive cover-up it was, as openly admitted to and apologised for by the current Prime Minister and Tory, David Cameron.
Who is this Cuthbert of which you speak? Barney McGrew is the one who accused me of over generalising
Thats conjecture in my opinion. The police covered it up whitehall went along/ believed the lie, no one will really know if the prime minister went along with it. As lets be fair it was an easy cover up and story to sell considering what had happened at Heysel and perfectly believable. Please dont think I am trying to spark a row about hillsborough or such like. But did the police let in thousands of ticketless fans in? yes. did they cover it up? yes. Had thousands of ticketless fans not turned up would it have happened? In my opinion she was a divisive figure, but to say she didnt do the most impossible job and do it well is bollocks. The country was in ruins. should it of been allowed to carry on as it was?? should tax payers money been used to prop up failing inefficient industries? Should the unions have had as much power as they did?? 35% above inflation wage rises?? 3 day working weeks?? no wonder manufacturing was inefficient and expensive to run. A lad I know on facebook is very senior at Npower.. was talking to him about privatisation of utility companies. He said the reason it was sold off as the network had been so badly maintained by socialist government it would have bankrupted the government to sort it out. So it was private investment that did. We are still paying for the upgrading of the network now. Which is why our energy prices are high. Politics is a matter of opinion based on whether you were made better off my a government. The only people no made better off by her policies were the ones with no aspirations to better themselves. My family come from a council house. My dad left that behind and did very well for himself. His parent bought their council house for next to nothing and were in death able to leave something of a legacy of a property for their grandchildren. something they wouldnt have been able to do. I have more right wing leanings thouggh i do also agree with some aspects of socialism. Though under socialism at some point it runs out of other peoples money to spend. that sir is a fact. She did more good than bad. her only real mistake was cutting tax and reducing interest rates at the same time which ****ed up the economy.
I gather Malaga's owner is citing racism as the reason his side was victimised. I had no idea Suarez was on the pitch. The transfer window hasn't even opened yet.
I was at Heysel, though not involved. I did witness some of the disgusting things that the other supporters were doing, so there is no doubt in my mind there was considerable provocation. I most certainly don't condone what happened, but Heysel itself was in a state of massive disrepair. A European final should never have been held there. As for Hillsborough, you will never convince me that a cover-up of that magnitude could be perpetrated without the full knowledge of the leader of the country. It just doesn't stack up whichever way you look at it. You can call it conjecture if you wish. It has already come to light that the alcohol levels that were tested for on the dead bodies of the victims were well within reasonable limits. How do you know there were "Thousands of ticketless supporters"? I doubt such a major apology would have been made by the current PM if '1000s of ticketless supporters' could cop for the blame. Anyway, we're not going anywhere with this, so let's agree to differ and go back to posting the usual banal **** we post on here
agreed, but one last point.. would there have been that many tickets sold knowingly that they wouldnt fit in? if that were the case then surely tradgedies would have happened on a weekly basis.
To my knowledge (I wasn't there. I had a ticket but had flu), it wasn't 'too many' it was 'too fast'. The match had already kicked off when the police opened the gates and a large, rapid influx of bodies was funneled in far, far too quickly. What's for dinner today? Hang on. There's a ****ing thread for this banal ****e
Similar story with the phone infrastructure - the reason we lag so far behind so many other countries in terms of broadband is that our system was neglected for so long. The only industry it made no sense to privatise was the railways, as you could never get competition with each company running its own line. Ironically enough, that was the one industry Thatcher refused to privatise! Exactly. Socialism is one of those philosophies that sounds great, until you realise that it invariably reduces the ability of the owners of capital to produce the money the system needs to survive. Which leaves the owners of the capital wondering why they should bother to produce wealth in the first place. So in practical situations socialism either collapses into economic stagnation or degenerates into communism when the government realises it needs to take over all the industries to keep them moving. Which is ultimately why there has never been a country that has experienced long term success with a socialist model, without massive financial support from external parties.
I can't remember who he was again now It can't be tunns, it's not Eric and I don't think it's UIR. You'll have to remind me - AGAIN!
