Strange how someone who disliked people who did not work, did so much to keep people out of work. She made thousands wealthy, but consigned millions to a life of poverty.
Yep. And if you have no hope of ever getting a mortgage, have been told to forget even putting your name on the council waiting list, and are forced to give over half your wages in rent to some spiv for a damp crappy flat, you also have her to thank.
Anyone who lived through the myriad of strikes perpetrated by out of control Trades Unions during the 70s may have a different view of Thatcher. "She crushed the Unions" ****ing right she did and she deserves pariase for that.
Dev in "you lucky bastard to have grown up under Thatcher" shocker.
Well put. Unions had far too much power then and had to brought into line. For all the coal miner ****e, do you think that was a sustainable industry to rely on? Inefficient and steering away from coal as a source of energy. Would any of you like to be stuck down a mineshaft daily, in the harshest working environments possible? Using coal as an energy source is a massive contributor to global pollution as well. If we kept going then we probably wouldn't be able to build houses anywhere, with all the mines littered across the land.
A modern Hitler? There were plenty of riots, inner cities of 1981, miners strikes of 1984 and the poll tax riots of 1990...all against her though. She was certainly stubborn like him.
"She crushed the Unions" ****ing right she did and she deserves pariase for that.
Correct Dev. I didn't like her but she pulled Britain out of the depths of despair under Labour. ****in bodies were not even being buried because of work shy ****ers who paved the way for the Frogs and their predeliction for striking.
One thing let her down, like Hitler did, she should have invaded Poland. Now years later they've invaded us.
Did you live through Labour's hell in the late 70's? I rather suspect not. As I have said I did not like the person but it was a necessary evil as Britain was on it's knees desperately whoring itself to all and sundry to get it out of desolution and ruin.
Did you live through the 80s when there were four million unemployed, entire communities destroyed and millions on incomes as low as £1.00 per hour and having to work 60-80 hour weeks just to make ends meet? I agree the unions were too powerful in the 70s (under both Labour AND Tory) but she ****ed them up so much that people were treated like ****e. Don't forget how much the Tories fought against the introduction of a minimum wage. If it was up to them cleaners, security guards etc. would probably be on about £2 per hour today.
Jesus **** It's only the spastics who are saying she either a demon or an angel. Most people are intelligent enough to dissemble the myth surrounding her. Simply put; a selfish **** who stood up for what she believed in and never backed down.
