We are one of a few P/L clubs considering,to trigger Loic Remy's 8 million pound release clause,if QPR are relegated according to the beeb's gossip column
We have reportedly looked at him before, going back to when Harry was still manager. Why we never pursued it at the time, I don't know. Still, for £8mil he doesn't look bad value from what I've seen so far.
I've been impressed with what i've seen of him, would be worth a punt IMO,but will the moneybag team's be in for him?,they are discussing him on the Chav's board
A bit concerned as to why he chose Hoops in the first place though, strange choice to opt for a team way down there and with little top flight history.
It was rumoured that they were holding out for £18mill at the time and he's had injury problems and concerns raised about his heart too, I believe.
O.k. I suppose you pays your money and takes your chances. He looks pretty fit to me at the moment. I seem to remember the same concerns being raised about Demba Ba some while ago. He seems to still be in fine fettle, too. At £18mil he's not worth it. But given the prices being asked for good strikers nowadays, £8mil might be worth a risk. It certainly paid off with Ba.
Ba going on a free after proving himself in the premier League was the real, big miss. With hindsight I'd agree, we should've gone for him but with Redknapp(who was the one who wanted him) gone and his price dropping £10mill in a year I was very sceptical at the time. I'm still not sure we would have got him either, QPR are paying him about £80k a week, I think and once you think about the extra money he'd earn from 2 transfers in 6 months I think our offer would've probably looked quite poor against it.
Sorry, YV, You've lost me there a bit. Are we talking about Remy? who plays for QPR. Or Ba? Who's at Chavski. I'd agree about Ba in that we could never match what The Russian Gangster would offer him.
I think it will take a lot of planning to have deals fall through for so many strikers. But I do think Remy is one worth talking about for about six months and not getting.
Remy reminds me of our own Coulibaly in that he spends a lot of time not involved in the play and then has a sudden burst of energy and bangs one in out of nowhere. As can be seen from his goal on Sunday, he also has an unusual technique. I am not at all sure about him and I suspect when the insurance costs to cover his heart issues are added in, then he would cost us a lot more than 8 million.
Perhaps AVB will buy a box of matches and strike one now and then. Our forwards might get the idea of why they are there!
You wouldn't think Dortmund were anything special based on their games against Malaga. 1-0 down and have it all to do, Malaga won't give up a lead easily, you can bet that.
Pellegrini is a wily old fox and at the moment, he is getting the better of Klopp and Dortmund. What he has done with this Malaga team despite all their internal struggles this season, has been amazing.
I agree, I don't follow Spanish football very closely but without knowing the reasons I can see their owners have really been messing around the whole club. 1-1 now. Brilliant from Reus to set up Lewandowski.
Didn't know you could get booked for exaggerating injury. A lot of refs would've sent Schmelzer off for that so he's la bit lucky there
