    Jesus.

I would argue that by your logic the average Polish bloke who builds your shelves or the Filipino bird who cleans your house deserve a higher wage than the average banker, if done by levels of work. But let's face it, that ain't gonna work, and it really doesn't fit in with your logic about foreigners.

And I really can't be arsed with those last two paragraphs ffs.

To be fair I justified it due to the fact that many people seem to share his views recently, and I might have to discuss it with a more threatening opponent in the future

I wasn't always in favour of Thatcher's poloicies - but at least she tried ( and to a degree succeeded ) in getting this country back on track - instead of being held to ransom by the power of the unions. Some may say that she went too far in breaking up the unions, and as a result some people lost their jobs. Even if you accept this concept without finer analysis, you cannot escape the fact that this country was rapidly losing the ability to sell its' products - fuelled by the inflation caused by the unions who decided that the economy could sustain 30% pay demands ( miners ). For the sake of the economy of this country Thatcher grabbed the situation and stopped it from total collapse - which is what would otherwise have happened. Her problem was that she tried to go to far too quickly with the reforms - she needed to slow down.
When Blair got in we got a situation where the floodgates to all and sundry was opened. As aforementioned - these migrants were given it on a plate. I've no real problem with any migrant - as long there is a guaranteed job for them - so they can pay their way - the benefit system in this country cannot continue to throw money at people ( from wherever they come ) in the same proportions - it will be bankrupt very soon - if it isn't already bankrupt ( just how are we going to repay the spiralling debt ? )
I am afraid that the government's efforts to try to stem the debt will cause them to be unpopular in the same way as Thatcher was when she took on the unions - but if this country doesn't recognise that 'certain' austirity measures must be taken - for the good of everyone - then we'll become another Greece ( or worse ).
If you don't like the medicine that will make you better - don't blame the doctor !

Living up to your name again, squire? <applause>

According to the ***** Labourites, the ****s that left us in this mess, the ****s who bailed out the banks without rigid conditions, the ****s who sold the nation's gold reserves as the market price for the commodity was at an all-time low, the ****s who saw record year on year growth but still built up a stockpile of debt by giving everyone benefits, yes, according to Labour, the way out of the spiralling debt crisis is to take on more debt
