A short term increase that benefitted a small number of people and has now led to the housing situation being completely ****ed to the point where we now have a "bedroom tax". Meanwhile the gap between rich and poor has never been greater since the benefit to the rich was orders of magnitude bigger.

there has always been a massive gap between the rich and the poor. always will be.

As to the bedroom tax. It affects people claiming housing benefit that have houses bigger than they need. seems fair to me. if youre in a 3 bed house and youre a couple go live somewhere smaller andd save the country money.

As to selling off council houses, I know **** loads of families that it gave them the stepping stone to build themselves a better life. they were sold 25% below what they were worth and as the econaomy was good then they all made a fortune and gave everyone capital to move out of the ****holes they lived in. . As to their being a housing shortage. there isnt one. there is a shortage of houses to house people that expect a free ride from government. Housing associations have bucket loads and are buiding more. But the very nature of the fact we are a small island with a big population is why property prices are high and most people on heres parents have benefitted from that fact..

I find the celebration a bit sick to be honest. Just checked in on FB and sure enough, there are people on there celebrating who weren't even born when she was in office. I bet that prick astro is too young to have the first clue about what he's babbling.

I am ambivalent to her, I grew up in the 80's and so any impact she had should also have impacted on me and I can't think of anything specific, and I am very much from a working class family. If it hurt us, no one let on.

I did think that she shut my grammar school and ****ed up my education but then remembered that was the local labour lot who did that!! The ****s.

I know fine well she was a ****ing tyrant but it was 50/50 good and bad for me.

I would have thought that this was one subject Foreskindave could actually contribute something of substance to but he's just chucking out the usual "you're too young and stupid to understand" argument. Maybe he really does know **** all about absolutely everything!

She did wonders for the working class who had aspirations and wanted to work to reach them, but put endless nails in the coffins of those who wanted to cruise along and rely on the unions to keep them in relative comfort.

She's probably the main reason we have all this chat now about there being seven classes in the UK. The formation of most of them can be traced back to Thatcherism. Whether you think that's good or not probably depends on which side of the divide you ended up.

Personally I'm all in favour :)

Man Utd fans are richer, better educated and generally of a higher social class than Liverpool fans.

I would agree with this logic except for the fact that the richest people and companies pay zero or negligible tax, and the government is completely complicit. Squeezing the last drop from the poorest in society while allowing the richest to needlessly amass more and more makes no sense. Also, politicians whining about spare bedrooms don't get my support when they steal entire houses for themselves using public funds.
