They've got a rested Pienaar and Fellaini coming back in for their home game against QPR, then the Woolwich on the Tuesday.
Two wins would put them right back in it, but anything less would probably rule them out.

Sorry I got it mixed round. Thought the game was in April. Can't see it though. Spurs would have beaten them today if any two from Bale, Lennon or Defoe had been fit. Their record against Arsenal is laughable and they'll be on holiday season by the time they play us on the last day. Can't help but think 4th was over for them when they lost at home to us.
 
Anyway I'm mixed about today's result. I was going to accuse this team of lacking character but now having come back twice from being down I can't say it. We drew with the 6th placed team without our two top players but a team which has been a bit dull and inconsistent in its results recently. Going behind at home to Everton is not good as there is a better team yet to come to WHL. Before the Liverpool debacle I'd have taken us to win it easily but since that setback we've been less than effective and City now takes on a more difficult dimension.

I'm not going to say that Ade is back even though he's had two close range goals but we need him to find the net more often from now on. I just wish Arsenal would stop winning,there's no chance at all for a breather.

I'm still mildly hopeful we can click back into place again but time's running out. All in all so far we've had a better season than we all thought we would at the start haven't we and I'm hopeful for next season.
 
Utd are top, and by the margin that they are, for one simple reason - they have achieved better results than all their rivals. Not just this week, or last week, but over 30+games. They have what we lack, that belief, that mentality that just knows you will win: and then finds a way to do it.
 
Any of the top 6 are capable of beating 12 or 13 teams in the PL home and away- you expect to beat these teams wouldn't you? If you did that's 72-78 points. You might take 8-12 points from the top sides if you play reasonably well. That's 80-90 points- giving a fair chance of the title.

That's what Utd have done. Not rocket science, not a fluke, no sleight of hand- just consistently getting results week in, week out. No point all the rest saying if we'd done this or done that. We did it.

That's what we threatened to do last season after the first half of the season. I think that demonstrated just how hard it is to pull off though.

I'm sure there is a psychological thing where weaker players tense up when playing against the more successful clubs of which United are the best example but Chelsea and Arsenal still benefit. Namely when clear on goal they get over-excited and panic. A good example is Lukaku's miss against Arsenal. He would have scored against Spurs or Everton from that position.
 
That does explain why 'Pool have suddenly become so crap. The only out and out "winners" they have in their squad are Gerrard (who can probably still just about recall something of the 'Pool glory days), and Goofy, who is far too stupid to understand what losing is all about. The rest of them don't really understand what it is to be winners.

But even with Goofy, I'm sure his advisors are saying to him, "Look, son! If you hang around this clown outfit for much longer you'll become just as mediocre as they are. Get out, now, son, while you still have some belief."
 
I still believe that United owe their success to loony defenders and by breaking the bank to get every other teams top goalscorers.....and,darn it,it works.
The only loony defender I can recall at Tottenham.and I mean a real tough nut,was Graham Roberts!
Two "Graham Roberts" in todays Spurs team and a goalscoring center forward and it's good night United.
Of course,that will never happen.....will it Daniel?

Smithy, although not strictly a defender, The Enforcer, aka Dave Mackay was probably the hardest of them all. Even head cases like Bremner were terrified of him!

"Razor" Ruddock was no shrinking violet either!..

Trouble is 5th place could well mean no Bale next year. Then we start again.

<doh>...when will you stop talking out of your arse?. You lot are weak only because of your **** managerial situation brought on yourselves, you have a squad that would walk into most top teams, in Europe, never mind just the PL. I remain unconvinced about Mancini and his ability to manage all the ego's he has there when its not going so well. None of this has any relevance to the quality of the PL, the top teams have individual issues brought on themselves, nothing to do with the quality at their disposal, great players badly managed, that is all.

English teams going out of the CL early...its happened to all countries involved at some point, well done for combining two seperate non-related issues.
 
Whether they win the PL by having the best team, the paucity of the opposition, luck or the influence of the Moon in Aquarius, I just want ManUre to beat Citeh tonight - to end their season once and for all and to bring more disharmony to that mercenary collective BEFORE we have to play them.......

You won't see a much better reffed half of football than that <applause> The timing of blowing for half time was poor but other than that Dean has been spot on, giving cards when needed and not playing advantage just because a side is in possession. The opposite of Twatkinson, Webb and occassionally Clattenburg, who will give **** all for the majority of the game and then get praised for it.
