I wouldnt't gloat about anybody's death but for Thatcher, I certainally won't shed any tears.

RIP.

Whatever peoples views on her are at the end of the day an 87yr old woman has died of a stroke and that is nothing to gloat about?
RIP Maggie

If people want to joke about her death or mock, then there is disgusting thread over on GC about it.

Love her or hate her, she has done more for this country than Cameron ever will!

She brought us out of a recession, which was also a world wide recession that nobody seems to remember, without leaving the country with massive debt. In fact Margaret Thatcher brought us out of recession not only without increasing borrowing, but for the first time since the second world war, was actually paying off the national debt. In one year she paid off 16 billion! Further she got rid of all those non existant jobs that the tax payer paid for, and those employed were working in real jobs. Margaret Thatcher to this day is a heroine in countries as diverse as Russia and the USA. She never changed her mind or backed down. That's what we need, tough leadership. Running a country is not about being popular, its about getting the job done. She won 3 elections even though she was so unpopular because people knew they needed someone who put the country first before personal popularity.

Street parties in Derry and Brixton. Trafalger Sq 18.00 Saturday.

Cremation... The 24 hour grave security would have been expensive.

Only very rarely joy in the death of someone, and she doesn't fall into that category.

But she, Ronald Reagan and the Ayatollah Khomeni did more to shape the world today than any other individuals I can think of. And whatever their intentions, in my view we are worse off for it.

The damage they and Mikhail Gorbachev did will last for decades yet. No point celebrating Thatcher's death while Thatcherism still blights our society.
