My heart-felt condolences go out to all the hard working British families whose lives she ruined.

    Twitters kicked off.

I'm staying out of it as I wasn't born.

Although, me mam is very happy.

Whether you agreed with her policies or not, she fought tooth and nail for Britain.

Well said. I didn't agree with a lot of what she did, but when you look back at the alternatives, we could have been a lot worse off.

Love her or hate her(and I know there's plenty who did both), anyone who thinks she didn't leave the job in a better state than she found it, probably was born then, or simply had no desire to see things change, or to better themselves.

I notice most of those slagging her off on Twitter weren't even born when she was PM and haven't the slightest idea how grim the late 70's were.

She changed perceptions and made people like me think they shouldn't just get a job, they should build a company.

    RIP Maggie.

I'd just say, you can have a valid opinion on someone without being alive when they were. I don't see much problem with a 30-year-old thinking Hitler was bad, or Abraham Lincoln was good. Indeed, she was a PM, there are pretty extensive ways to be informed about her politics.

Thatcher liked competition. In fact she once said 'You can't buck the market'.
She was right of course. Allow a true market to operate freely and openly and it will flourish.
Alas utility markets, like most, are rigged these days.

It's a basic flaw of most right-wing laissez faire philosophy - markets can never operate freely because of vested interests and greed that ultimately distort it via fraud and corruption.

My old man will be happy.

I've been brought up disliking her, but still R.I.P. nonetheless.

I'm not getting involved in the bitching - I wasn't around until John Major was PM, so I don't know 'the full story'.

    Well said Scarborough.

    A civil post.

All this 'dance on her grave' rubbish that I'm seeing in the internet is very distasteful and not very British.

My old man will have a massive grin on his face up there, and will probably give her a sly back hand.

    R.I.P. nonetheless.
