Anyone else get the feeling we have done something wrong? No thought not, but according to comments on every Southampton player praising Pocchetino it is the Southampton fans who are 'fickle' and have apparently 'forgotten' the two back to back promotions. Funny how things like that slip your mind isn't it, makes you wonder why the Saints fans were giving the Reading manager a good reception seeing as how we apparently do know who he is.

I admit I have seen the odd comment of a Saints fan being happy that we lost Adkins, but they were 1 in 100, if that. What do they want us to do, act like Chelsea fans and abuse are new manager every week. When has an owner ever reinstated a sacked manager after the fans have called for it? Even Cloughy didn't get reinstated at Derby. The sheer number of unjustified sackings in recent years should prove that it is these commenters who have the short memory, I'm sure they are pleased as punch how well they are playing since their owners sacked their last manager who didn't deserve it. Why should us Saints fans get targeted for this, let alone targeted at all considering we haven't done anything wrong.

I've seen a few comments this weekend slating us for singing "One Pochettino" - but when I pointed out that it followed "One Nigel Adkins" they maintained it was still disrespectful and unfair. As I tried to orchestrate my point that, just because you liked the previous manager greatly, doesn't mean you shouldn't appreciate the achievements of, and lend your support to, his successor. As far as I am concerned, Pochettino is doing well - and deserves the support of the crowd. We look a lot more comfortable than a month or so ago and have pushed on.

Singing "There's only one Pochettino" on Saturday after the Adkins song was about showing that we have moved on. That no grudges are bared against Pochettino, as far as I am concerned. That's that put to bed, Nigel will forever be fondly remembered by us all. For the style, the persona and the progression. But now, like it or not, Adkins has gone and Mauricio is here. We've moved on and he has progressed us further thus far. Long may it continue.

I think the only people now who think we have done something wrong are fans of different clubs. Even the worst of pundits, i.e. Lawro, can see that we've impoved since Pochettino took over.

Agree 100%. I think from the Everton game onwards Saints fans have been pretty much spot on in their support for Pochettino while still maintaining respect for Adkins' achievements. That obviously showed out sharply on Saturday with the "One Nigel Adkins" chant being followed immediately by the "One Pochettino" counterpart.

I suppose over the years we have always rallied behind the new manager until he has shown his faults. So far Mauricio hasn't shown he has many of those, and long may it continue!

Did Nigel react to the "One Nigel Adkins" chant at all?

Sam am not sure what your beef is really.....Are you saying we are wrong for moving on after supporting Adkins? How do you suggest we progress from where we are, most fans like both managers. NA is now unfortunately the enemy he is not our manager. We have a new manager and with the exception of a very, very few, are very pleased with his playing style and the progress he has made.
I don't think there is one genuine fan that wasn't shocked by what happened, but it did. We as fans did not have a say in it now whether we should have or not is another debate.
As for the support for both managers I only see that as DTLW has said letting NA know we have had to move on ....just as he has. The important thing for me is that NA knows he will always have a place in most Saints fans hearts for the foreseeable future.

I don't think you have seen Sam's point Beddy. He is not saying we have done anything wrong, just that the media seem to think we have.

Just remember we are Southampton and the press and media hate us with a vengeance so do not expect any favours.
God help us when we are successful in the next coup,e of years!

I think its more other fans rather than the media, specifically comments on a variety of pages. Super Kelv and Lallana have praised Poch recently, and fans of other clubs have taken that to mean the saints fans are happy Nigel is gone. Yes we have to move on, but we aren't happy he was sacked! Either way it's got nothing to do with the fans, and even if it did its like I said no owner has reinstated a sacked manager due to fan protest, so what would protesting achieve anyway. It could just be fans of clubs we have recently beaten trying to get the last word, footie fans are touchy. I remember last season a Millwall supporter saying the most vile things on facebook about Saints fans all because we beat them that day.

One thing for sure, the Saints fans had no input in the move whatsoever, so can hardly be blamed for it. It was obviously unexpected and many were upset at the time, however time marches on and we have to accept our lot. From the reaction of the fans for MoPs first game it showed that common sense overuled emotion, and that factor has helped MoPo get us where we are now. Had we been hostile from the start there is a fair chance he would have taken umbrage and not given his all, he from his own words has taken to us and has shown appreciation of the fans efforts, lets reciprocate and get behind him with everything we have got, after all we are the ones that will benefit in the long wrong. Most of us liked Nigel, let's like MoPo even more.

I don't use MoPo, but I use Poche. Equally, I don't use Poch. Is this acceptable?

I'm not a fan of that either. But then I may have used it in the past if I was feeling particularly lazy. Mauricio or Pochettino or that sexy Argentinian in the cuddly jumpers if you're Fran.

Okay. So no more Poche, but I can call him "that sexy Argentinian in the cuddly jumpers if you're Fran". Gotcha.

We'll do what we want, we'll do what we waa....nt, we are Southampton, we'll do what we want.

Forget the media or any other foolish people. Southampton fans are mostly mature educated types that understand we have no say whatsoever in the running of the club. Nor are we plastic Chelsea fans that have been quite happy to accept their little, non supported £1 club in the second tier with no fans in the ground and bat a blind eye to everything that happened on their way to European success.

Our 30k fans were there when we were bottom 6 Prem (noughties.) Chelsea's only arrived when they started getting being top 6 prem.

Our 30k fans would have been there all through the noughties as well had the ground been able to take them.

Forget the plastics and be proud that others are jealous of our maturity. (by educated types I mean....at least went to a school most days up to 16)
