He really is something else, that Brendan.

    http://www.whoateallthepies.tv/live...ntly-cringeworthy-brendan-rodgers-quotes.html

    1. ”It was a perfect away performance, apart from the first 10 minutes.”

    2. “I’ve always said that you can live without water for many days, but you can’t live for a second without hope.”

    3. On Luis Suarez: “He is a real warrior of spirit.”

    4. “My biggest mentor is myself because I’ve had to study, so that’s been my biggest influence.”

    5. “I am not a power freak.” (We think the lady doth protest too much!)

    6. “I started coaching for one reason and that was to make a difference for people, not just as footballers but as human beings.”

    7. “When we have the football, everybody’s a player.”

    8. “You train dogs, I like to educate players.”

    9. ‘I think there’s three players who will let us down this year — the cause, the fight, everything – and I have written them down already in these three envelopes. Make sure you are not in one of the envelopes.”

10.”I use a quote with the players,“Per aspera ad astra”, which is Latin for ‘through adversity to the stars’.”

    11. “When you’ve got the ball 65-70% of the time, it’s a football death for the other team. We’re not at that stage yet, but that’s what we will get to. It’s death by football. You just suck the life out of them.”

    12. “Joe Allen is one of the most courageous players I’ve seen.

    13. “I will leave no stone unturned in my quest – and that quest will be relentless.”

    14. “I always say a squad is like a good meal – I’m not a great cook but a good meal takes a wee bit of time, but also to offer a good meal you need good ingredients.”

    15. “All I’ll ever do is all I’ve ever done in any job, and that’s promise to fight for my life for the people of the city.”

    16. On the ‘Being: Liverpool’ documentary: “It was something I didn’t watch, and thankfully it’s over.”

    17. “I’ve always worked along the statistic, that if you can dominate the game with the ball you have a 79% chance of winning a game of football.”

    18. “I believe a young player will run through a barbed wire fence for you. An older player looks for a hole in the fence.”

    19. “The problem with being a manager is it’s like trying to build an aircraft while it is flying.”

    20. ”We play with 11 men, other teams play with 10 men and a goalkeeper.”

Please let's not start getting into the metaphysics again. Can we just say that they don't put the ball into the other team's goal, more than the other team, often enough.

    He's just David Brent, isn't he? <laugh>
I wonder if he ever looks back at any of his interviews and thinks, "What the hell did I say that for?!".

Do I have too much faith in humanity to think most of these were fakes?

Oh my... I made the mistake of googling that and watched the video clip. Would not recommend it to anyone.

And you have to make a new meal after every round!? That would explain their transfer str... err sorry ingredient shopping strategy in the last 3 years.

Do I want to know the context of this? The last google trip wasn't encouraging.

That's nothing to do with mental strength and everything to do with Taarabt bottling it. M'Bia was reckless but at least he was committed which is all you ask.

I'm no Redknapp sycophant by any stretch of the imagination but he has really been let down by individuals. Against Wigan it was Taarabt, against Fulham it was Samba, against Villa it was Bosingwa. QPR have been comfortably the better side in all 3 of those games but with only a point to show for it. You can't legislate for that lack of commitment. Wigan and Villa might make mistakes but you can never fault them for a lacking of commitment, same with Stoke and Sunderland only they don't have the quality.

<laugh> I can't fly or outrun Usain Bolt in a 100m race but this is football. QPR won at Goodison last year with inferior personnel to what they have now.

QPR will comfortably beat Stoke. Stoke will be lucky to get a point from their next 3 games.

    Interesting stat:

There is only one team in the PL this season who haven't conceded a single penalty.

    No prizes for guessing who.

Wow, was just looking at some of the league tables from most of the major European leagues, and it's a one horse race everywhere.

England - United have it wrapped up.

Spain - Barca have all but won it.

Germany - Bayern Munich have already won it. <laugh>

Italy - Juve are nine points in front.

France - PSG have a seven point lead over Marseille, who are currently second in Ligue 1.

Think about it, this season has been one of the dullest in a long while. Hopefully the latter stages of the CL can liven things up.

obviously happy to win the league but the amount of drab games in the league this season compared to the past 2 is amazing really, most have included the bottom 6 though

I really think Stoke are going to be relegated this season. I have looked at the teams around them, and I know this sounds a bit far fetched but still, QPR and Reading are as good as done in this league. Aston Villa are on the climb and have started to put together some good results. Wigan weren't great today but they have the quality to beat big teams and they will pull off their seasonal great escape for sure. That only leaves Sunderland and Stoke. Despite the lack of managerial experience at this level, I think PDC already showed that his methods are working today, not in the result for Sunderland but in the application and desire they put in. I think they will haul themselves out of the drop zone. That only leaves Stoke, who are quite frankly in terrible form and with a buffoon for a manager. They will go down.

I wouldn't guess any team with Mertesacker in its defence.

He'd have been better off running in the Grand National yesterday.
