According to GFNFrance highly rated LB Cheikh M'Bengue has been pictured at Gatwick airport and has been quoted as saying he is travelling to watch Newcastle vs Fulham as he may be signing for us.

Apparently he is regarded by many as the best LB in France. Be interesting if this comes off - could see Santon being used in a more advanced role next season... If we survive.

Don't see why we brought Haidara if this is the case!

Need quality fullbacks , and it'll be good if we have 3.

Santon Haidara M'Bengue makes 3...Raylor is serviceable at least.

Makes sense to me. It'll be competition between all 3 for both spots. Liking the idea

See santon ending up in midfield tbh. He is a **** defender and I'd happily play him on the wing with his pace to make way for a seasoned LB

By the way I thought Jonas was a grafter today as he has been the last couple of games

Indeed being doing ok for a while now but unfortunately still gets shifted around and gets little backing from some. Once some get it into their head about certain players, it doesn't matter what they do. He has had a poor season and isn't the same player but you have to be balanced rather than being unfairly over critical

Is he not just heading over to see ex-teamate and likely friend Moussa Sissoko?

I expect this is another instance like Eric Pieters watching his mate Tim Krul. He may well fancy signing but it don't mean nowt until he's holding the shirt!

Nice to see we're becoming the team of choice for young promising French players though. Any chance we can have him now with all our injuries?

As good as Santon is he is a liability, it wouldn't be the end of the world if he went to Milan, I like him but he is the worst defender in our 1st XI! Although 1 day I can see him being a great player

Santon is a liability defensively. I'm almost certain santon will be pushed up on to the wing. We may sign anothe LB to compete with haidara next season.

I was just worried you knew something I didn't to be honest <yikes> We need competiton and this lad and Haidara would be excellent. The you have Debuchy and Raylor for the other side. Santon shifts up but can still offer cover to both in times of need instead of using Jonas there. I know he was absolutely fantastic yesterday and give a MOTM display, but it really doesn't suit him.

    OT-by the way thing,

Jonas with his flying sweep to get the ball while engaged in physical icebreaking activities with the Fulham winger in the 2nd half was awesome!

Latest from GFNFrance is that M'Bengue is a Newcastle United fan and a move to us would be a 'dream come true' for the player.

Davide Santon has looked a little shakey in his 2nd season here and there are big teams in Italy interested so it makes sense.

Cheikh M'Bengue and Massaido Haidara competing for the left is fine by me :)
