Actually, the League Table is anything but subjective and whilst nothing counts until the end of the season, right now we are the second best side in this division.
Their downfall has nothing to do with us though. It's their own doing and therefore we are fortunate. It's not like we caused it. That's why I think the second voting option is contradictory . If there's one thing for sure it's that we have been consistently gaining points against the lower league teams (unlike lester, palace and boro) If we're to be considered a very good team it's because of consistency . That's what got us where we are. If you look at the table over each month, you'll see us creep up slowly but surely. That shows consistency.
I'd be more inclined to agreeing with this. But that's not in the voting options. When Greece won the euro, were they much better than france, england, germany, spain? I think we're a good team but I think that we're a top 6 team that's overachieved and had some luck (with the opposition's inconsistencies) to get to 2nd spot.
The fact that we haven't had a downfall like so many teams have shows we've got something they don't doesn't it? I'm not sure how you can have such views based on 30 seconds viewing a week though.
Also, considering 99% of our fans did not expect us to be where we are now at the start of the season, I'd say overachieving is pretty much the most appropriate word.
Every home game and the odd away game. I certainly don't pass comment on performances I haven't seen though.
But you're contradicting yourself (ves) This is the endless debate. a team that wins 1-0 with 39% possession and 3 shots on goal (3 on target) will be seen as lucky by some and others will think they played a great tactical game a team that loses 1-0 with 61% possession and 15 shots on goal (3 on target) will be seen as unlucky by some and others will think they played poorly and had no composure up front. which one is it? all very subjective. You are saying our performances show we deserve to be where we are, yet some say "the league table doesn't lie" and only results and points matter (no matter how you get them).. I'm guessing many out there will feel that every time we lose, we were unlucky because we dominated possession and had more chances. This is how you're basing your opinion of our team. You are saying that we deserve to be 2nd because through your eyes our performances were better than the other team. Do the performances matter or the FT result?
what makes a better team... a team that defeats it's toughest opponents but becomes inconsistent against the weaker sides ( lester, palace) or a team that loses to it's toughest opponents but is very consistent when playing weaker sides.(city, watford) (cardiff have obviously got the right balance between the two which is how you win the league) I still feel personally that to be proclaimed a definite worthy 2nd place team that has been excellent all season, we should have beaten some of those tougher teams.
Well were grinding out loads of earlier in the season (1-0 vs Brighton and Middlesbrough with last minute penalties saved) but recently we're struggling to see games out and I personally blame our lack of depth. We need to buy squad players in summer because (as I think we've shown throughout the season) we're not a million miles away.
Still sad to think a win vs watford would have seen us 9 points in front of them and 2nd place all but guaranteed.
Our points per game has been pretty consistent each month apart from the great December and the awful Jan , looking at the month by month league we have performed evenly throughout http://stats.football365.co.uk/dom/ENG/D1/september.html
Is that what all this toy chucking is about Firca ? Yes it was a massive opportunity,we were all pissed off,we didn't win that game. It would have all but taken us up. But are we really going to diss this squads efforts, for the whole season ?
this view pisses me off.. there are still 15 ****ing points to play for! I still say that we will win the league. and until it is mathematically impossible for us to win it, I will continue to say it!
That's about like how I saw it. I thought we edged it. I thought Boro were very poor and we weren't much better.
