HIAG makes a lot of comments that come back to haunt him, he had to shamefully admit to that a while back Bale has basically been carrying spurs since before christmas, if it wasn't for him they would be a footnote in this top 4 battle. The Spuds were falling over themselves last year hoping RVP would get injured and wreck our top 4 chances. Even now we've sold him we've proved that we can still score goals without him. If we'd kept him and his strike rate dried up like it has at Utd, then we would be struggling now. If ever there was a one man team, it's Bale Hotspur
But try telling the spuds that. I mean, I am totally willing to accept Liverpool's season would be far worse only for Suarez. We'd be god knows where, definitely lower, but for some to say "without RvP you would have been lower down the table last season".. pure genius, real insight to say "you'd be worse off without the best Striker in the league" Everyone and his dog knows United would be in a dogfight with a very poor city this season if it were not for RvP so no cigars for the idiots They just can't accept that the rest of their team is decidedly average can those spuds.
They have a few good players. Vertonghen has impressed me, Dembele in Midfield, Lennon has been okay and . . . erm Bale, that's about it. But they have relied on Bale so heavily that it was inevitable that they'd struggle if he had a dip in form or got injured. When you look through their squad, especially their strikers, Adebayor doesn't look like he gives a **** - no surprises there really. Dempsey is a Lemon who only looked good in an average Fulham team. Holtby looks like Ramsey on a bad day. Sigurdsson, what the **** does he do ? You begin to realise that without Bale, they are looking pretty toothless.
Same can be said of all 1 main man teams, those other players you mention benefit from Bale's presence and don't look quite as good when it's on them to produce week in week out if you get me, I'm personally a fan of Dembele but although he is a beast, he will not keep them in 3rd Neither will the others you mention.
Apparently only carzola and possibly wilshire would get into their team, according to 2 of their mods, and apparently all 4 of our defenders are nowhere near as good as there back four despite us having conceded less goals this year. Yep its true, if you want to witness delusion first hand, the spurs board a prime example.
Vertonghen will get found out as the average defender he is when he stops scoring goals. I remember how highly rated Vermaelen was in his first season for the exact same reason.
From what I have seen of him so far, he does not seem to be as rash or as hotheaded as Vermaelen. More clam and assured.
Spuds narrowly scrape a point at home to Everton. We can now leapfrog them in our next game, let's make sure we do just that
Lack of cutting edge cost Everton + the Moyes thing of just sitting back on a one goal lead. Anichebe, Mirallis and Jagielka were all excellent. Arsenal can apparently go 7 clear of them before the next play, not sure how many you'd be in front of us.
When everyone was gagging for him to come to Arsenal I wasn't that impressed. Vertonghen is one of those players that does everything fairly well, but I don't see him excelling anywhere. He plays left back competantly but doesn't really have the pace or wing play to be a starter there. At centre back he is neither the fast agile CB, nor the big, strong in the air, John Terry style CB. He may get better, but right now he is just a solid all round player. At the top level you are looking for specialists, and for me (as some have said like Vermaelen) he is a Jack of all trades and a master of none. This makes him a fantastic bench player, and there probably isn't a team in the world that wouldn't want to have him in their squad (again like Vermaelen).
We must be watching a different player mate. Vertonghen is very quick for a CB, that's why he's a good LB too. Regarding the spuds players, i'd say Lloris, Vertonghen, Dembele and Bale would get in our team, everyone else is isn't good enough. Maybe once Holtby settles, i'd take him too, but he is going through a rough transitioning patch at the moment.
Spuds have gone very quiet in the thread and on this board recently/ Wonder why that is? No sign of HIAG anywhere bar the Spurs board. Well I never.
HIAG's 'Arsenal don't appear to be laughing at us' thread has dropped off the page Time for somebody to revive it maybe ?
