Job done. I expected goals, but predicted a draw. Big game on Tuesday now. We need to pick a similar team and keep pushing for wins. A win on Tuesday leaves us needing 5 from 5. Hope Connelly's injury isn't bad though Kev did a good job.
Brilliant result. Thought Malky was spot on with his selection again today, Watford struggled with the five across the midfield.
would have taken a point before the game and am happy with it. if we had defended as we did in the 2nd and attacked like we did in the 1st for the whole game i think we would have won it. all in all a good performance
A good all round performance and, more importantly, a great result. Win against Barnsley and leave Watford and Hull fighting for second place.
Fair enough fellas, it has been pretty clear that you would go up and possibly need to as much as some others do. I was able to see the game via a stream, and commented afterwards on the Watford boards that I didn't think either team would put much fear into the clubs who will be in the PL next season. It has been nice to get there as we found out, but it can be a dreadful slog week in and week out when you find out that you are not good enough. I had expected a lot of noise from your faithful fans who made the journey, but it didn't come over. At Watford some games all you hear is the visitors, but not today. All got sore throats?
Not really, I expected a hard game with a draw the most likely result. As you had five ex-Watford players in your squad I knew what to expect. You cannot really say that Cardiff or Watford look ready for the PL. Grind out a result team I noticed was the way some of your fans described some of the selected squads. That is what you had tonight, and it will not work in a higher league.
oldfrenchhorn! You sound like someone prepairing for the playoff lottery and bottling it. Cheer up fella it's not over yet. .
Not at all ITIWRAN. Seeing as I don't get to many games per season I do watch a fair amount of of games over the TV one way or another. What I saw tonight was two good Championship teams, both of them hoping that they would have a breakaway winning goal, but doing their best to stop their opponents getting it. It was stalemate. Neither of them was good enough. Look at it objectively and you will see that if either or both were promoted then it will be a slog. We have been there and know. Despite having no bad feelings against MM I doubt that he would see a season in the PL out. He has done well for you at this level, but I still think that he will not be a long term manager at a higher level. Just my opinion, I have watched football too many years now to be certain of anything. The Championship is a crazy league and anything could happen, so I haven't pinned my hopes on things for a long time now.
I don't know what you think you wrote, but this is what I got. 1. We need to go up or else we're in trouble 2. We won't last in the premier 3. Our away support is poor Which adds up to you being gutted you didn't get 3 points. I
Really frenchhorn? I think it must have been your stream mate, on sky sports on surround sound the Cardiff fans were immense! They were the predominant fans for at least 70% of the game with some very amusing chants too! In fact I logged on to comment about the fans then I saw your comment so I'm afraid I have to respectfully disagree. A point does us good though !! Onwards and upwards!
Well done Cardiff - you did what you needed to do and can now clinch promotion before you travel away again. The Prem is almost as unpredictable as the Championship outside the top half a dozen or so and I am sure you will strengthen your squad so good luck - you will have a very good local derby too Good luck next year guys and I have enjoyed the banter we have had on a few threads - yourselves and Hull are good fans
We'll certainly need to strengthen, the success of those signings will go a long way to deciding how our season will work out. If we beat Barnsley on Tuesday I'm really looking forward to watching yourselves and Hull battle for that 2nd spot. If you end up in the playoffs you want to hope Bolton don't get in there. Their squad in full of quality and it looks like Dougie is just starting to get them performing how they should.
Cheers Leo - you're not a bad lot yourselves on the whole. Last night was the most we could have expected, if not as much as some of us had wished. Winning would have clinched the Prem for me, but as I said on your forum, a point at your place would make 3 points from our game in hand against Barnsley on Tuesday probably enough to do it. That would put us 11 points ahead of 3rd spot, and with all due respect, I can't see you getting that many more points than us over the last 5 games. Good luck though - you've got a very decent side as have Hull, and I reckon it's really touch and go between the two of you for the other auto spot. Holloway has blown it big time and the others look strong. Forest, Brighton are in there and Bolton are coming up fast. I think Palace have got next weekend off, but if they don't get the right result at Ipswich and then Leicester can turn them over at Selhurst, they could even fail to make the playoffs. What a shame.
I don 't fancy our chances in the play offs - ours is a tired side and as you say Bolton are the form team and that is usually the team that win play offs. we have to match Hull in the next four games and then when you beat them in the final game - as Malky and the ex-watford contingent will want to do - we will beat the dirty Weeds and overtake Hull on goal difference - sound like a plan !!!! ??
I think Watford are looking as tired as we were at this stage last season. They need that second place as I don't think they will be strong enough for the play offs.
what are you on about? i watched the game on a rubbish stream with very poor sound and all i could hear was the cardiff fans cheering away like their lives depended on it, for the second half they were nearly constant, what game were you watching? also below you say neither team had the quality to do anything other than cancel each other out, again what game were you watching? in the second half we defended so well, restricting watford to long shots, they didnt get anywhere near our box. how that is anything other than brilliant defending against the top scorers in the league i will never know
I could clearly hear singing..."Premier League, you're having a laugh", which always tickles me...but who was singing it...us?
well back from a good weekend, was in a right mess in the ground (heavy night before)....stayed with a few mates who live in Watford....sat in the Watford end without any trouble, had a few dicks after the game try it on but soon fkd of behind the old bill. all in all.....not a great game but that's what I would expect this time of season tbh when the pressure is on,we got what we deserved and im a happy man>>>>>>>>not sure what frenchy is on about but the Cardiff fans were great all game.....................pride of wales
