After watching Ted Kravitz's Spanish GP from the pit lane, it is mentioned towards the end that Rosberg asked Mercedes to move Shumacher out of the way as he felt that he had a faster car. Mercedes obviously refused and said that they had to race each other. Can you imagine the headlines if that had happened?
Worse than Massa/Alonso? Rosberg is starting to ascert his dominance in that team, and rightly so. I was a schumi fan when he was in red, but now, he's better off suited to the technical advisor role he had for ferrari after he'd finished driving. he's clearly good at getting that mercedes to be a reasonably competitive car, but no longer has that last 5 or 10% that would allow him to be the one that finally wins with the thing
Before the season someone predicted that the biggest talking point would be Schumacher having to move over for Rosberg. I think if there'd been any chance of Rosberg catching and passing Alonso, Schumacher would've been asked to move aside.
Well Mercedes are being consistent because at Suzuka Schumacher was going quicker and was stuck behind Rosberg who was not asked to move over. Also in Brazil last year Schumacher voluntarily let Rosberg past because he was on new tyres so Schumacher moved over to give Rosberg the best chance of getting good points.
I agree with the whole catching Alonso business, but from a team point of view, when you get the same number of WCC points overall, doesn't it make sense to let Rosberg past to reduce the risk of a collision? Still, good to see they are being treated equally, and also that Rosberg feels confident enough to ask.
Absolute bullshit imo. If it was the other way around, Rosberg would have to move over or he gets fired. Why dont Mercedes like Rosberg?
Rosberg can go for a walk if he thinks Michael Schumacher is going to move over, tbh I don't think he ever would if he wants to race, remember Rubens in Hungary? He is half his age and has achieved nothing at all, sit the back down and shut up Rosberg. Schumacher moved in Brazil because he new Rosberg had a better chance out in front. But with the media and annoying critics and sponsors putting 100% pressure on him, Rosberg was asking too much, and Schumacher has too much to prove.
Sorry, I'm just so annoyed. I reckon he has lost respect for Michael. He should have gone and shoved him off the track if he really wanted that place, like he did in Spa 2010. If not shut up and stay behind.
You could say that or you could say that because it was 2010 they didnt want to. I just dont like how Schumacher is the number 1 driver (preference wise) instead of the better Rosberg.
Based on the performance of the drivers, Rosberg has every right to make such a request. Would have been hilarious if Schumacher was ordered to let his younger teammate past. I wonder how Michael would have reacted.
The Alonso situation is what mattered, there was little for Mercedes to gain other than a public outcry for using team orders, let Rosberg prove he should be given the benefit of team orders in a different situation by being able to pass a slower Schumacher without them first
Prove it! Show me an instance this season where Rosberg was forced to move aside for Schumacher, no matter why this has not happened the fact remains it did not and in that case please log in to view this image edit:fixd
What a silly argument this has become. And I have to say this Jacky Ickx: your last post is one of the most banal I've seen in this forum for a long time! - - - A couple of observations though, which I feel are relevant: I believe Rosberg is the faster driver, as has been demonstrated throughout this partnership. But he does not demonstrate much of a fighting spirit. Time and time again he yields places to other drivers rather than battle it out and I cannot remember the last time he made a competitive overtake stick in F1. Therefore it should come as no surprise that he asked for help; he seems to need it. It doesn't really need to be repeated that Schumacher was frequently helped by a de facto wing man, but for the logic of this comment, it is important. Surely all we need is a little ironic reflection? If Schumacher was consistently beating his team mate and was ahead of him in the Championship standings, I wonder if he would have been expecting help from his slower team mate when he comes up behind him? Only an ostrich will fail to see the evidence of the past two decades (ahem). But it is a shame Rosberg appears not to be a better fighter when the chips are down.
Thanks. And thanks for the edit: your earlier comment works really well now and makes far more impact!
