just came back to my country for a month and noticed a sudden upsurge in man city and barca fans. Its obviously not unexpected but the rise in number of city fans is particularly sudden whilst quite a few arsenal 'supporting' guys also 'switched' allegiances some of them laughing at me for sticking by arsenal. At any rate i was wondering first of, although i don't deny initially supporting arsenal bcse they were successful (didn't like manu at all bcse of fergie and beckham though they were reigning champs whilst arsenal were nearest rivals) arsenal's success wasn't the reason i started enjoying the sport. Now days i kind of like how we manage our finances and achieve a respectable league position though i see no reason why we shouldn't spend now and then on a quality player. It does certainly seem to be the case that at the very least those who have been to europe have a stronger sense of loyalty. Few questions though: 1) Whats the general perception towards the inevitable phenomena of attracting plastics when becoming successful after all while it certainly occurs less in the UK its not unheard of for people changing teams (2 of the 7 porters in my building have done so) does it not dampen any satisfaction derived from achieving success and make a club to an extent lose its identity? 2) This may be very well bcse i have forgotten what it feels like but nevertheless what exactly is the major attraction in winning silverware? 3) Most arsenal fans want silverware understandably so too but when it comes to how to go about achieving that goal it seems pretty divided though some preferring the sugar daddy route whilst some advocating sensible spending which differs slightly from spending within our means which seems to be our current strategy. How far do you think we should push/manipulate our financial boundaries to achieving this aim?
Its always the same with successful clubs, I remember being in college around the time of the invincible area and there were quite a lot of people wearing arsenal shirts, one guy in particular stood out, as he was in my class, met him a few years later and he had a Chelsea shirt on, this was during the mourinio years, and low and behold, I met the same guy about a year ago, did the obligatory 'how are you doing' ect ect, turns out he has a kid now and was taking him to the ethihad stadium for his birthday, apparently as they are both city fans. I had to stop myself from bursting out laughing, as a could remember him wearing and arsenal shirt then a Chelsea shirt, that's a definition of a plastic fan lol.
I must defend most Citeh fans. They are usually very loyal, you only have to look at their support when they were in the 3rd division.I would love to see what would happen to our support if we were ever relegated to the 3rd tier
People support winners for a number of psychological and social reasons. It's the same in pollitics, which is why opinion polls are continually manipulated to make one candidate appear to be winning, and why the Lib Dems have been ridiculed for decades as a "throw away vote". All propaganda... anyway some people may be slaves to their dispositions, but that doesn't stop them being detestable ****s.
Utter fail. Plastics? What are they? Clubs ultimately want to attract fans by winning, when they are successful it makes the new fans plastic? So much for freedom of choice This includes man u fans. The truth is the plastics are those who take more enjoyment out of rivals failing than their own team winning and would rather read about other teams looking for stuff to have a go at, examples HIAG NOF Christiansmith to name some plastic fans always banging on about other teams and rarely about the club they support. If someone buys a Barca jersey but also buys a luton jersey and watch both teams play they are essentially supporting both teams. Barca are worth watching, and the jersey is iconic, so buying a shirt and watching them play hints at plasticity? no, just on your part just Your reception of plastic is severely skewed
Maybe your perception of being a plastic is skewed? Especially with you being a drunken Irish supporting Liverpool fan, who is also obsessed with anything United.
Abuse.. fail I post less than one post a week on average since I joined on the united board over all... fail You prove my troll point and talk about Liverpool on an Arsenal board. It's Not Just A Game is yet another one of those plastic fans that trolls and doesn't understand irony, saying I'm obsessed with united when he's on the Arsenal board talking of Liverpool fans, yet again Far too easy dealing with idiots I must admit
Abuse.. fail I post less than one post a week on average since I joined on the united board over all... fail You prove my troll point and the plastic point, you are a perfect example of the type of fan I am referring to and here you are talking about Liverpool fans on an Arsenal board. It's Not Just A Game is yet another one of those plastic fans that trolls, and doesn't understand irony, saying I'm obsessed with united when he's on the Arsenal board talking of Liverpool fans, yet again Far too easy dealing with idiots I must admit Let alone you just copy part of my post because you are not articulate enough to assemble a few words from your own limited vocabulary
Not lost on me INJAG that you missed that I was saying United fans were NOT plastic for following United, though the United trolls are, whilst you trolled for anything anti united Plastic much
be quiet child, discussion is for the big boys not poor quality one liner kids like you hoping someone will like your post
At Least and I Clutching at typo straws isn't befitting a man, maybe a troll child but certainly not a man, you've basically no point to make and are just trolling I think it is you that must do better mate, you avoid real discussion, lessen the topic and as usual a manc derails a thread just to get a troll in. Sad really
going by some of the posts in this thread. It would be a compliment to call some of you matt. "Go Away Matt!" "wtf" Absolute vindication of the theory that education levels are plummeting God forbid someone come on this board and have an actual opinion and a willingness to discuss it, the trolls are out in force today. Kiddies cartoons over already?
Sorry about that. I didn't realise it would offend you. I don't consider it childish to dislike something.
If you were to debate something, I'm all fingers, rather than just lazily click the button, yeah lazy and childish, not up to offering your opinion in case it gets put into the office shredder? That's all really, btw, it isn't like I am a wum nor have I had one pop at Arsenal so I don't get the animosity at all Yet another not606 thread decends into ****e because of posters like you and troll mancs I dared to disagree with an Arsenal fan? was that it? I am assuming the OP can defend their own original assumptions rather than the usual trolls taking the thread way OT as usual, you like many add nothing to football debate and just opt for the lazy unintelligent approach. Back in your box! shhhhh
