    Tough at the Bottom.

Villa's win at Stoke means that Stoke are just one point ahead of us now, and we have a game in hand over them. Of course Villa are on the same points as us now but we do have a game in hand over them and a better GD.

    Tough in the bottom ten.

    11 Southampton 32 -7 37
    12 West Ham 30 -9 36
    13 Norwich 32 -19 35
    14 Stoke 32 -11 34
    15 Newcastle 31 -15 33
    16 Aston Villa 32 -24 33
    17 Sunderland 31 -10 31
    18 Wigan 30 -20 30
    19 QPR 31 -23 23
    20 Reading 32 -27 23

Apart from the bottom 2 I'd say take your pick of any 1 from 7 for the last spot. Far too close to call and therefore 3 points tomorrow is a must.

Been on the red wine for a change. Nicely pissed, but not too full. Had a skinful of beer the other day and was totally fjorked...

Just need to drink it a bit more slowly. Had a great night in a pub just on the doorstep that I haven't used before. Great staff, great service, great bunch of regs, good karaoke competition and a great pizza just along the road from the pub.

Nah. Dinner in a quality local boozer with the wife and kids, then home for a nice Shiraz :)

Time for bed though. Toodle pip.

Today's games are interesting, to say the least.

    Chelsea vs Sunderland 3pm
    Newcastle vs Fulham 3pm
    QPR vs Wigan 4.10pm

If Wigan win, Sunderland lose and we manage to make a comple Horlicks of today's game then Sunderland will be in the relegation zone and three teams sharing the fourth from bottom seperated by goal difference.

Today, a victory is essential. Nothing else will do as we can't rely on anyone else to do the stuff for us. Neither should be expect anyone to do it for us anyway. The trouble is that the fight to scrap sometimes isn't there and seems to vanish in games which are going to be tough scraps. At five o'clock I would like to have a sigh of relief but the clouds of pessimism are forming again.

Please, please. stuff Fulham. And if an early lead is taken please don't park the bus. First it always backfires and, secondly, the goal difference is going to be important.

I really wouldn't wish to be Mrs Sid having to launder his underlinen on the banks of the Wear next week. That QPR versus Wigan match could easily go wrong for them, and us, if Wigan get an away win. The one good thing going for Sunderland is that they have a comparatively good goal difference and if the result at Stamford Bridge goes the way that, no offence, is expected then they had better hope for a scoreline better than ours last week.

Actually I've just made an executive decision, having not had a drink since my lad's wedding last Sunday I'm going to get royally p*ssed if we win today.

Sid's idea of a couple of cheeky ales followed by a bottle red seems to be the order of the day.
