What I've read a lot from opposite fans is that this year is very poor standard and if we and cardiff go up according to them we'll be the weakest teams ever to get to premier league and we'll go straight back down (although they don't seem to realise that promoted teams usually change half their team once they go up)

I couldn't disagree with this at all. I'd like to see how many of the other top six sides could have coped with losing as many players as we have at key times in the season - As well as the injuries, don't forget losing Elmo and Stockdale during January yet we still came out of it in the top six.

Yeah not much in it Tony.

This is the guy who complained bitterly to the 4th official for a good 3 minutes after we were scandalously allowed to take a quick free kick. He reacted as if it was some kind of decision against his team. What sort of negative **** moans about the ref letting you take a quick free kick? It's basically just admitting that you're a typical crap Championship side who rely on stifling tactics and slowing the game down.

We consistently outplay and outcreate the opposition in almost every game we play. You can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times an opposition side has created more than us this season - it probably stands at three in fact. You don't do that without being a good side. I honestly think people just look at the name 'Hull' and think we must be a boring long-ball side because little Hull can't be up there can they?

We had our spell as the form team that no-one wanted to play against earlier in the season and when that was happening pretty much everyone on here thought we were the best team in the division. Opposition managers and fans alike commented that City were the best team they had played.

Since then injuries have taken their toll and our anti-football pitch has kicked in again, but one thing is true in a full football season that not many supporters appreciate. It's the fact that after Christmas everything changes and teams have to adapt their style to suit different conditions (something Nick Barmby didn't allow for to his and our cost). The pitch as mentioned is one thing, but generally teams suddenly focus on their own plight and realise they have to really start scrapping for points.

The second half of the season is a dogfight and to compete effectively a good manager knows the pretty football has to make way for something much more industrial. That's what's happening now and to judge our teams potential based on these type of games doesn't do it justice.

Look at Man United, when they play average and ugly and they scrap out 1-0 wins, that is what good teams do.

no I don't get to watch us other than fls but that's irrelevant. we hve not done too well against the top sides this year yet we are meant to be so good?

I disagree fully I actually feel we have been very consistent.
if we hadn't we wouldn't be where we are now. We have played like a good league team, we have progressed slowly but gradually. But we can't beat the bigger teams so surely we aren't better than them.

we are here because we have ground out some results when others failed. if lester and palace hasn't ****ed up so much we wouldn't be top 2.

Some will think grinding out results is a sign of a very good team. it is in this league format but realistically it's just being consistent. if we were one of the best (or 2nd best) we'd have beaten lester, Watford, Cardiff, palace

this is my opinion and I'm sorry if it offends your glee.

So essentially what you're saying is the current points system doesn't work?

We're only second because Leicester and Palace have gone and lost a load of games. And we haven't lost a load. Doesn't that make us good? It's not like someone has just been awarding us the results. We got them by beating teams.

We were 28-1. There can't have been many teams below us in the bookies eyes.

Ordinary? Last seasons leading goal scorer out all season through injury.
This seasons leading goal scorer crocked before Christmas.
Joe Dudgeon, last season's young player of the season out all season.
    Hobbs out
    McShane out
    Now Bruce out.
    Meyler suspended.
    Geddo playing with an injury.
And we have been borrowing goal keepers all season.
Conclusion; Superb management, enjoy it and stop looking for negatives.

We were 33/1 at the very start, which was the same as 6/7 other sides, from about 11th to 18th least likely. Palace were the same odds as us to win the league but we were shorter for promotion (10/1) and they were shorter for relegation. That was with bwin anyway.

What were Watford's odds at the start of the season? I know Cardiff were one of the faves anyways...

Statistically you are wrong. You mention Leicester, Watford, Cardiff and Palace, but of course with the exception of Cardiff we have out performed all the others. If they were each "one of the best" they would have out performed us. They haven't. Your argument is fallacious, Palace beat us, we beat Birmingham, Birmingham beat Palace. Over the 40 games that matter this season, we have consistently out performed the others (ex Cardiff). That makes us a better side.

But feel free to continue your wallow in your misery, you give no offense to me by doing so.

Erm....not watching us play is fairly relevant, if I'd only seen the ****ty clips on the FLS, I'd probably think we were **** too.

Fortunately, having seen almost every game, I know we're not.

I'm not looking for negatives- just asking the question as to how people see us.We have been unpredictable at times this season, and magnificent at others. What's the reason?

I'd say we're just very inconsistent - Middlesbrough were very poor today, yet we were lucky to get a win, as we created nothing.

We don't look like the fresh-legged fluid passing side of earlier in the season. We don't seem to have as much fight in our game at this crucial part of the season when we should be desperate to fight for everything, especially Gedo and Elmo who have both looked a bit disinterested the last couple of games. Elmo bucked up his ideas in the second half, but in the first he was walking around moping about with his head down and shoulders shrugged.

I think Quinn, Evans, Rosenior and Fathi showed what we lacked against Watford - fresh legs!
