I've obviously missed something about Faye. I thought he did well, just like the last few weeks, but I didn't realise he was as good as everyone has been saying since the game. There weren't many stand-out performances for me, it was a very poor game. Chester Faye Stockdale Chester gets it just for that late header to save a certain goal and Stockdale's low save late on was amazing as well. David Meyler gets a special mention for managing to kill precious seconds from his seat in the stand by pretending not to notice the ball had ended up under his legs Also the ref's ludicrous decision to award us a free kick when we had such an obvious advantage was appreciated after Brady ended up scoring it, and also Leadbitter I think it was who edged so far forward from the rest of the wall that he left the gap Brady shot through. If he'd just stayed 10 yards back there'd have been no gap
Faye Chester Stockdale Rosie and Fathi both very good when they came on also. Elmo was absolutely dire for most of the game, especially before Rosie was filling in behind him. Disappointed by all the forwards today as none of them played well.
Has anyone mentioned that this team of supposed no-hopers (according to some on here) were the only one to win in the top 7 (again) today?
1. Faye....... had his best game in a city shirt 2. Quinn ....never stopped working for the team, ran his bollocks off 3. Stockdale..his reaction to a defo goal from a cheeky little back heel was 1 st class.
You'll have to explain. As I mentioned, Meyler was taking the piss holding onto the ball in the crowd but who was time-wasting on the pitch? Middlesbrough started ****ing about at every throw-in after half time until we scored. Stockdale got booked - the second time our keeper has been booked this season for exercising his right to take the GK from where he wants, yet when every other team's keeper literally stands there doing nothing with the ball that's fine. Simpson conceded a free kick for shielding the ball in the corner - I would actually agree if they outlawed this because it's stupid and unfair, but everyone else is allowed to do it so why not us? Bruce wasn't allowed back on the pitch for 2 minutes after his first injury today and Gedo was kept off for ages too; if the same rule applied to Deeney the other night we'd be 6 points clear of Watford now. We got something like 5 bookings today, I don't think we even made that many tackles. I'm not going to entertain an argument that we somehow get it easy with refs if that's what you're asking. Far from it. Some of the free kicks we conceded today were criminal. There was one where Koren got absolutely clattered from behind and he ignored it, only to give one against Koren literally 2 seconds later when he got up won a header.
1 Faye. Agreed, one of his best. Just a joy to watch. 2 Brady. Mainly as the whiny ****s behind me complained about him all match. ****ers, the lot of them. Started off a bit slow as no-one was moving into positions for him and he was double marked but for most of the first half, he was the most creative player. 3 Quinn. All over the bloody place. I thought Elmo was carrying an injury as he was crap until the 2nd half, and was totally shocked he hadn't been subbed at one point. Thought Bruce had one of his poorest games before he went off. Didn't seem up for it at all. Koren bottled it too, so thought he might have been subbed. Referee was a total ****wit. Rosie looked good though, and we got a fortunate win against a very poor Middlesboro side, so can't be all bad. These sort of results make me think it may just be our season.
Faye: Was solid, absolute brick wall. To say he's still performing this well at his age is a massive achievement. Well done lad. Brady: His usual, dangerous attack-minded self whilst also not forgetting to neglect his defensive duties. Coming on really well, going to be a top EPL player at some point IMO. Quinn: All over the shot, defending, attacking, pushing City forward and bringing players into the game. Absolute bargain and works for the shirt. Shout out to Zidane's Left Foot and Arctic Monkey, saw them both in the Clarry before the game! Young alcoholics...
I know his Grandad. I was speaking to him for 5/10 mins about half an hour before you all came in. I like to remain unidentified to those on the board. I'm the man who sits in the shadows so I don't get seen...
No offence ISTPLT, but in well over thirty years on supporting City, you're the worst judge of a player I've ever come across.
No offence but you're wrong I'm not saying Faye didn't have a good game, I just didn't realise he was as good as everyone is saying. I'm not disagreeing, having seen the rave reviews on here I've obviously missed something, just saying I didn't notice it at the time.
1) Faye 2) Evans (unsung hero today) 3) Chester/Brady Also a big mention for Rosenior who, had he been on the full match might have been up there with Faye. You could see he wanted to play so badly. Also a small mention to Simpson who, had he been a goal scorer would still be playing at Arsenal!
Good point about Evans, did well today, he gained us so much more possession and space allowing us to pass it around the back 3/4 and midfield rather than give the ball away. Also came up with important tackles and clearances. Simpsons finishing is a shame at times, Bruce certainly got annoyed today. It looked like Simpson missed a bit of a sitter, and Bruce just went mental, going to kick the advertising boards but it was a pretty tame kick in the end. Also, Meyler played a role today. The ball went in to the stand and Meyler got it, held on for a good few seconds before lightly throwing the ball in to a bad area, wasting a good minute
