Yes, something inevitable, as Thai says. We're not having much luck at the moment. Bunn injured, should have had a penalty, Snodgrass too honest. And I fear that CH will do nothing to turn this around. He just has no ability whatsoever to react to events in a match. Villa looking good against Stoke (watching on TV). It's us or Sunderland or Stoke, I think.
It's like the whole game has swung round after the goal, just hope the half time break doesn't bugger up the momentum.
Not sure half time came at the right time or not really. Bennett has had his best half of the season, and we really need to attack Davies in the second half. We actually had 4 in the box on a couple of occasions too!
To be fair, Hughton has been at the side of the pitch urging them forwards. Lets hope he doesn't have a sudden attack of 'sanity' at half time!
I've tried to defend Bennett in the past, but I don't think he can really cut it in the Prem. However, as mentioned above, he's having a decent game and Ben Davies looks really vulnerable and that has been our strongest outlet (assuming Bennett manages a decent cross when there are no players near him and four in the box...) if he comes off, I'd like to see Snodders there, but I think Hughton will want Holt and Kamara up top together. Could move Hoolahoop out onto the left? EDIT: bit harsh the bit in brackets because he got the assist, but that cross earlier where he had all the time in the world was really poor
I've been calling for that for ages, but the way Bennett is playing it'd be very harsh. Swansea seem to be posing more of a threat down our left though, so I'd be tempted to swap the wingers and let Snoddy have a go at Davies, and Bennett can help Garrido more defensively.
I'd like to see Holt and Kamara together in the middle. I think we could bully the points out of them. Holt's style of chasing everything really seems to upset Swansea.
I would take Howson and Hoolahan off and put Holt and Becchio on. We cannot match them for skill and passing. But we showed that with the goal, their fullbacks are OK going forward but ball watchers at the back. We built momentum and pressure from then on and that is what can win us the game. Keep their back four facing their own goal often enough and the rest of their talented forwards will have to drop and support. It doesn't have to be big boot. Just build the pressure, the crowd will respond and we will create chances.
Did anyone else notice that in the last ten minutes we actually had players running onto the ball, venturing forward and passes into space?
Agree about Howson, but I'd leave Hoolahan on. I think he's playing well. If we took them both off we'd just have hoof ball because they'd man mark Snodders.
I agree although I would be telling Hoolahoop to cut in too. He has never been an out and out winger and so to give him license to roam a little might suit. Cant see Hughton doing that though. He likes players to be far more regimented in their position.
Has anyone else seen Stoke's penalty appeal yet? I'm not a fan of giving them for striking a defenders arm in the box, but Baker's arm is a long way from his body. By current standards it should have been a nailed on penalty.
