Confirmed that City will play Feyenoord at the KC on Tuesday 26th July (KO 7.45pm). As well as playing host to Feyenoord, City will also participate in a number of local friendlies, with the full list as follows: Tuesday 19th July - North Ferriby (a) KO 7.45pm Wednesday 20th July - Winterton Rangers (a) KO 7.45pm Saturday 23rd July - Grimsby Town (a) KO 3pm Tuesday 26th July - Feyenoord (h) KO 7.45pm Saturday 30th July - Chesterfield (a) KO 3pm ------------------------------------------------------- cant wait for the Feyenoord game! saw them a few times in Holland whilst I was over there, should be a great game.
don't get why we always play lower league sides apart from Feyenoord the rest should be a walk in the park i mean Grimsby(Conference) whats the point
i just think won't it be better for us to play like Premier League like Wigan or Wolves a couple of chamionship sides like Palace and Leeds and a couple of League 1 sides
So we're not going to be playing the Mackems pre season for the Raich Carter tinpot trophy, or whatever it's called.
I can see our generosity playing these non-league teams which is to be commended but, like last season, they did nothing to help us and I too feel that we should put two or three games in against a bit of class. What happened to our traditional pre-season matches against Sunderland?
I think it was felt that playing our pre-seasons against Turner and Campbell wouldn't go down too well.
Nobody would want to see us play teams in the same league. Games against Premier League sides or the likes of Feyenoord can only be good, likewise facing a League One team, which should allow us to blood some new signings and youngsters. For me though, facing Championship opposition is a definite no. I'd not pay money to see that.
I'd like us to have one game against a decent Premier League team, or one game in Europe so I know where to book my holiday.
So no game to give Ash the farewell he deserves - is there that much bad blood about it? I was hoping we could get a game so that he could leave in a more dignified manner to what actually happened, wherever the blame lie...?
Will they maybe wait till Ash retires, seen as he's likely to have commitments at Preston in pre season? The club should arrange some sort of match for everyone to show their appreciation, but when Ash has the time to be there himself. Also, i'm guessing the pre season schedule isn't set in stone and there's still a chance that more games can be arranged? Home to someone like Everton or Villa would maybe be a good test? (though looking at the list we'd be pushed for time to add another game in somewhere)
I can imagine Brownie going ape**** if Ashbee said he was having a testimonial with us. "'Ow fookin' deare you Ash, it woz me wot ****in' made youz like. Them bastards treat us like ****e and youz is runnin' off back for fookin' more. You sufferin' with fookin' Stockholm Syndrome or wot, like?"
It wouldn't sit to well with the tanned one at all, unless the player is still at the club i think testimonials etc happen once the player has retired.
What tradition ? Weve only played them twice to my memory and one of those was mid season to open the KC. That reminds me what happened to Steve Melton ?
He went to Boston for a couple of years, had a 6 month loan at Tamworth in 05/06 before being released that summer. He joined Kings Lynn the following November but soccerbase doesn't have any appearance figures or release date from that point on. He's only 32 as well which surprised me.
