I'm amazed you can draw any positivity from your best player being injured, if that happened to Mata I'd be bricking it. To be honest Bale doesn't have half the impact he does in home games as he does in away games where he's given more free space and license to shoot.
What neutrals conveniently forget is that we did perfectly okay without Bale, the last time he was injured.
Not true. The only troubling aspect about his absence this time round is the number of other injuries that we have, particularly to the likes of Lennon, Sandro and Kaboul.
Van Der Vaart always popped up with goals if the strikers weren't firing, he was an excellent player. Infinitely better than Dempsey and Sigurdsson. Holtby is young but he shows plenty of promise. Of course your squad is stretched now because of injuries to key players but 1/2 seasons ago you were far better equipped to deal with injuries to someone like Bale or Defoe than you are now. I'm amazed you think otherwise.
There is a good argument that we have become over reliant on Bale at the expense of the balance of the team. If we are without Lennon as well we are in trouble but with him and without Bale will not be as hard as some think.
