Stat of the day: Southampton have (near enough) 50% more points than Reading, so a huge gap between us.
So about the match..... should gaston start or keep davis on to start as he's doing well? Punch to start Lallana to come on I think. Rest of team picks itself.
The big difference between the two teams tomorrow is, one knows how to play football, and the other is learning how to play football. This game is massively important for both clubs. My money is on the club with the team that already knows how to play football. And that ain't us!
Had to check who was writing this. I see now. Although I agree with your reasoning, it's not cut and dried. The match still has to be played.
At least it's only the media turning it into the Nigel Adkins Derby.... please log in to view this image That's tomorrow's matchday programme.
Sorry mate, I should have put Reading. I just copied it an pasted it from what I put on Royals Rendezvous, one of the Reading forums. But I have to stick with my gut feeling on this. I watch yourselves, West Ham, even Sunderland and QPR and, for the most part, you all look like premiership sides, playing premiership football, even if the results don't go your way. By comparison, in most of our game this season, we have looked woeful. McDermotts championship strategy of contain the opposition and hit them on the break didn't work in the premiership and his plan B was hoofball. That didn't work either. I'm confident that Adkins will turn it around, but he'll not be able to do it this season, there isn't a manager out there who could. I have no doubt you will pick up a comfortable three points tomorrow.
Same team for me with Lallana in instead of Puncheon...I feel that he has gone a little off the boil in recent weeks. Going to watch it in my local and hopefully the result will cure the awful hangover I'm going to have!
I think we are going to give Reading a thumping if we are clinical in this game in front of goal. We will create a lot more chances.
This is a weird one to me. I obviously want Saints to win and win big. I feel we owe them for last year. We were in the top 2 all season and they came and stole the show! We didn't play anyone all season that was above us at the time (except if you count Leeds who were alphabetically above us till we went one up in the first game) and yet still finished second. But, as much as I feel we owe them, we got promoted. That is all that mattered to us as fans. However to NC and Nige, they wanted to win the league. So I suppose what I am saying is we owe it to Nige to beat them! My head says 2-2, the heart says 1-3. Come on, let's do it for Nigel!! PS That is the effect of Nigel - make a negative a positive - Cheers Nigel!
you will notice a difference tomorrow with your team, by the time of your last 2 games you will be playing in a way that will get you thinking if you are watching the same players as NA is that good, he is not a miricle worker but he gets players to do the simple things well.
