So what was it when he destroyed you at the Lane this season then? What excuse did you make up because I'm sure the ref had a good game in that one..
Generally I find our games against Spurs (and Arsenal) are reffed well. We've had our fair share of luck in recent games admittedly but it shouldn't be forgotten it was referee Graham Poll that gifted them a win against us that ended our unbeaten record against them. Dowd also gave them a penalty which could have ended up costing us the title. Referees are used to often as scapegoats though, very rarely do referees actually cost teams games.
The Arsenal ones tend to be as refs see us as peers. But they tend to favour us, as the senior club, v spurs
I am very good at keeping up thank you, and I am aware of this being Drogs signature but I didn't (and still don't) understand why you chose to quote it at that point, and neither did your Spurs pal. Is someone feeling a little tetchy today ?
It is gunna be extremely close but that was a huge win for us today. That Spurs result also helped because had Everton won then they would be right in the mix. It's going down to the wire but a good weekend for Arsenal and Chelsea.... not so for Spurs. If City lose to United we are only 2 points behind them!
Massive win, as they all will be between now and the end of the season. Everton still in with an outside shot to. This is going to be one hell of a tight race for those 3rd and 4th place spots. At 1-0 down we were in big trouble but now we are back in 3rd with a game in hand over Spurs and with them to still come to the Bridge. With it being this tight, one round of fixtures can change everything. Thursday could also be pivotal depending on whether us and Spurs progress or not. I wouldn't want Spurs to win a coin toss but it will certainly suit us if they get through against Basel as that means at least 2 more games for them. My money is on Arsenal getting 3rd due to easier run in and nothing else to play for (again!!). Tight battle between us and spurs that may well be decided in our game against them. I have us as slight favourites at the moment.
Big week this. Arsenal play 3 times in the league before Spurs even kick a ball, and when they do that will be against City. Mental to think AVB was getting on his high horse about Arsenal being a "negative spiral" when they were 7 points clear and by next Saturday they could be 7 points behind. If Arsenal were to win all 3 it would be hard to look beyond them for 3rd/4th but you'd expect they'd drop points in one of those games. We're definitely going to be 4th by the time we kick off at Anfield so the win against Sunderland was crucial.
