Not saying his tactics will ultimately succeed, but he certainly knows the right things to say at the right time. Expect reaction! Narked by Celebrations!
it makes no difference in my opinion. We have been lucky granted but more often than not we come out and put out a good performance but still lacking up front. It may be silly to concede defeat now but I really think we threw it away on tuesday. We'll see how true that is in 4 games but I don't see us winning 4 of the 6 remaining games. I think we'll win 2 and draw 1 or 2. We'll brush with 80 points and I don't think that'll be enough. I still feel sick about the watford game, a win would have meant that we'd only need 4 wins to go up and since watford probably won't win their last 6 games, probably 2 or 3 would have been enough. Now we NEED 4 imo.
Glass half empty. My opinion is that it is still 60/40 between us and Udinese B in our favour. We have a point advantage and a VASTLY experienced manager (albeit with a weakness for nepotism).
I thiink we are marginal favorites but tomorrows games are going to be key. Yes we have a point advantage. Watford have a much better goal difference so we must just match their results to go up. We need a reaction and I'm confident SB can get one but we need to win tomorrow as Watford will be lifted by Tuesdays result and could easily beat Cardiff. Can we rely on Cardiff not to take their foot off the gas at Watford? I hope so but fear 2nd place is going to go down to the wire. At least its going to be exciting!!
We've lost 2 on the trot at home, and that's not good. Bruce will have them fired up to stop the rot. That's what should be the reason why we'll go all out to win it, rather than Watford's celebrations. Although, Boro won't be a walk over as they'll want to finish the season with some credibility, after their massive slump.
Can't read the link because it comes up malware, it also does when clicking on Dull Daily site. Can anyone give an idea of whats said please?
HULL City boss Steve Bruce has warned promotion rivals Watford that their exuberant celebrations at the KC Stadium this week have left his wounded side desperate to prove a point during the run-in. "It's okay celebrating a victory but there's still six games to go. "We took notice of that all right. It's a bit too early to be celebrating just yet. "I don't read too much into momentum in this league because you can only ever look at your next game. It's always dangerous to look too far ahead."
Hopefully the players have got a bit more fighting spirit than some of our fans We are still 2nd and some of you have given up already
My heart keeps hoping but my brain knows how city do things all too well. I personally think we have some very tough games ahead and the talk about 4 wins could be a tougher ask than you think. I suppose there are some positives to take that we're pretty much guaranteed a play off spot.
Indeed. All ^^^^ these i agree with. Time to add more pressure to Watford before they play again. I would rather have our remaining 6 fixtures than Watfords. They have a much harder run in(on paper at least).
Thanks mate. It just proves how big the game was to them. Agree with Bruce, one game at a time, lot to play for yet.
Yep- that's it in a nutshell. That was a massive game, and we lost it for various reasons. Watford seemed to be better prepared than we were, even to the extent of resting their leading scorer in the previous game to ensure he was fit and rested. They did their homework on Elmo and Brady, like almost all of the teams that have success against us do. Stop our wing backs and you force is to play down the middle, where we lack a proper goalscorer and a midfield general. I hope Watford overdid the celebrations the other night, and don't prepare properly for tomorrow's game and that Cardiff do a job on them, as Watford did on us.
I posted that playing David Meyler in the Udders game would be a mistake and for me this was the reason we lost on tuesday. We shall never know if SB would have rested Meyler if Quinn had not got injured. I feel that made SB take the risk which sadly backfired. Whats done is done and we move on. It could all be back to how it was come 8pm saturday night. City with a 4pt gap again but with only 5 games left to play.
We still have the advantage. Certain of the players can't handle two or three games close together but the only way to find that out was unfortunately V Watford but they only won one-nil despite having a day extra rest. Bruce will not make the same mistake again regarding players fitness, I think the likes of Cairney/Evans and maybe even Proschwitz have a part to play for us, not up to date with Fryatts situation
There's also no way of knowing whether we would have won at Huddersfield without Meyler, but as it turned out the win meant Watford couldn't pass us, so by rights we should have at least picked up a point against them thereby maintaining our 4 point lead. SB's decision to play him at Hudds was validated by the result and only the poor display by most of the team against Watford allowed them to claw the points back.
