Just seen him tweet that he had ankle surgery today? When did he pick that injury up? He tweeted a photo: https://twitter.com/swp29/status/319927303528407044/photo/1
Excellent stuff ...................... The name sounded familiar, just wasn't sure who he played for............... so we did sign him, eh? Could never understand how Citeh paid so much for him, yet he seem to have an allergic reaction to putting the ball in the net ............ oh ... hang on, Hughes was Citeh manager and then he came our way. Nuff said. Hughes will probably take him to Leeds ............
Well said and as far I am concerned he won us three points against Chelsea ... great player and he will play again under harold
I do think its probably the last we'll see of him. Really liked his style of play when he was elsewhere. Pity we never really saw that with us. I sense a massive clearout thread on the horizon. Thanks Sean, we'll always have Chelsea.......
Apparently he picked it up 20 months ago when he couldn't climb up the step to get into HQ....Fire brigade eventually helped with ladder and signing his name for him on some form or other!
I have been a member of this forum for somewhere 12 months and to tell you the truth, the post from 'gimmie' says it all. Splendid stuff.
Ive had multiple ankle surgeries and its no fun. We should hopefully never see him again but whos going to pay 60k/week for a useless washed up player.
Nice one Flyer .............. I played 13 years of football,. In the end, legs could not stand the torment and peacefully retired. A broken leg & two knee reconstructions to say the least. Twenty one goals in my last abbreviated season of seven games. If ever there was a player, SWP showed so much promise but unfortunately, delivered so little.
I dont think he showed promise, he had pace but that was it, its sad that he played for England over 20 times, he also one of the dumbest players Ive ever seen, constant turning into trouble and shooting when its obvious it will be blocked, but thats probably a good thing as 99% of his shots end up in the upper tier. Could well be our worst ever player when you take into account the fee and wages. Look how much better Townsend is and hes barely on 4 figures while SWP is on at least 20 times more.
Has he played this season? Oh yes. I remember now. He scored against Chelsea after putting in one of those performances we had become used to. What happened next? Nowt. He will not be missed in the "mother of all great escapes". By the way I see on the BBC website he has apparently scored twice in 22 PL appearances this season. Have I missed something else?
He's a good player, both going forward and defensively, still has exceptional pace, which draws in defenders.
