http://m.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/apr/05/chelsea-sunderland-squad-sheets for anyone that cannot view that it is.... Mignolet Bardsley - O'Shea - Bramble - Colback Gardner - Rose - N'Diaye Larsson - Wickham - Sessegnon
Looks good but i think 3 in midfeild against Chelsea will be hard. On FB they had ------------------------------------MIG-------------------------------- BARDO------------------JOS------------BRAMBLE--------COLBACK ---------GARDNER------------N`DIAYE-------------ROSE LARSSON--------------------------------------------------------SESS -------------------------------WICKHAM------------------------------ Which i like the look of
Not a chance... A makeshift ****e l/b. A l.b in the centre of the pitch Wickham before Graham, and no Johnson.. ffs
Yeah I like that - maybe he's come in, seen what he has to work with and thought "This is where I'll play them my way" Wickham as the front man I like a lot nas Graham has been rather unimpressive so far
N'Diaye played well on Saturday against manure - probably our best player imo, he should get the central role.
Id maybe have 2 left footers on the wings Johnson and rose, rose defo has more influence the further forward he gets, said a while back would play him on the wing, we would see less impact in my opinion if he was central
Have to say I like that formation. My mates and I have watched the drivel served to us over the past few weeks, and the consistent comment is that a. we don't look like we know hot to score b. we don't have players in their natural / comfortable positions. I think this goes someway to addressing both. Colback has played several times as LB and shown his is more than capable. He isn't an attacking minded player, therefore don't play him there and expect him to attack..... Rose is a gifted, attack minded footballer. He has pace, enthusiasm, and creativity - all the attributes that PDC will warm to. I remember a game where he was moved into midfield (player injured, MoN rejigged the team) and he lit the game up....reminiscent of when McLean first came into the first team. Larsson.......he's a right winger, not a midfielder.........give him a run out their, let him prove to PDC that he can do better than Johnson......competition is what we have needed. Tell him to keep pressed up the park, let Gardner cover, and tell him to get the ball in. Sess.......absolutely frightening when he runs at players, knows how to cross a ball...isn't a natural scorer so don't play him in the middle......but FFS tell him he only has to be 1 or 2 players (at most) then get the ball passed to a team mate or crossed into the box....he doesn't have to beat the same man 3 times, then lose the ball! JOS....had some high profile shockers, but commands his defence well. He needs pace around him, and I think Bardo needs a run to get his confidence back. Whickham.....next to Fletch I really think he is our only natural goalscorer. Stay high, look for balls through, and don't be afraid to shoot on sight! Gardner.....one of the shining lights for me; he is not the most gifted player, however he works for the team, moves for the team, and knows where the goal is. A Kevin Ball-esk cult-hero in the making I feel. My only reservation is Titus.......I never have, and never will rate him as a footballer. He can't pass, he can't be relied on to concentrate for 90+ mins, he can't command those around him.....2nd string at best for me. I'd rather have Killa next to JOS (assuming Cuellar isn't avail). One other thing............Cattermole. As much as I like Catts when he is playing, I do believe he is a strain on the team. It's always "if only he was playing" or " Catt's wouldn't have done that"..... For me a brave manager would set him a target with a clear result at the end of it. Get fit, return next season, and unless you're available for >80% of the games (e.g. 20% are games where you are not chosen as part of the squad at PDC's choice), you're history. Spend his wages on a more available player. I don't particularly care who (I leave others to advise on that) but facts are his % available record STINKS! Let me close by saying I wasn't lit up by MoN's appointment, other than it wasn't Bruce. I firmly believed his tactics wouldn't take us forward long term as I've always thought of him as a bit of a tactical dinosaur, but I thank him eternally for keeping us up. Compare that to PDC who I think brings an enthusiastic warmth to the club; he clearly eats & sleeps the game, knows the importance of derby games, and will not suffer fools gladly. My sense is that Ellis took the right decision (perhaps a little too late for my liking - unable to beat a 10 man Norwich team was MoN's low for me), not a brave one. He recognised that not changing would most likely not change results, and that is a game businessmen don't play! I really do believe we will stay up, but it won't be pretty (is it ever supporting SAFC?). My vote for the 3rd spot is Villa (I think Wigan have the experience to get out of it), Skunks have too much depth in their squad & Cisse is a class act infront of goal (but Europe may take its tole?), and we have made a change! Role on tomorrow, and the new era!
i like the look of this, too. i don't know why it wouldn't work. graham and Johnson have been ****e and are clearly unfit. impact subs at best
