Christ I have had a 'mare of a day by the looks of things!!

Haven't viewed any racing yet as I just got in but my fellas look to have been beaten fair and square and I hang my head in shame!!

Right, crying done with, time to draw up a battle plan for tomorrow...

Congrats for all those who backed Zarkandar, First Lieutenant etc. Seems like it has been a tricky day.

Brilliant day out at Aintree. As Oddy says fooking cold but that didn't stop some of the local lasses dousing themselves in cuprinol and donning their Sunday best. Blimey they've got some constitution them girls. Sadly arrived too late to walk the national course. My ol fav Countrywide Flame was disappointing in the Aintree hurdle but was great to see FL get his head in front in the Melling Chase. Can't see him going over less than 3 miles in future. Probably get shot down for saying this but I reckon the thursday at Aintree is a better day out than Chelts. You can get around so much easier, probably because so many of the punters aren't really interested in the racing and just stay in the bar. Certainly convinced me that the modernisation of Cheltenham is overdue even if it does upset a few crusties. That said the reception the winners got on the walk back was very flat when compared to Chelts.

One enduring image for me from today - after the Foxhunters I went to sit on the terraced steps in our stand. It was pretty deserted except for one delightfully charming young lady talking on her phone - "Guess what mum? I just put £2 on this horse and it won and when I went to get my winnings the lady said 'ooh not bad' and gave me £280 quid"

She'd had £2 win on the tote on Tartan Snow

Fair play to her. These geezers next to me were incandescent with rage when that one popped up. "That can't win, 13 year olds don't win these races, look at its form, bloody fix." No such thing as cert when horses have to jump something.
