Stick, I'm a fan of both The New One and Zarkandar and couldn't split them today so bottled it and had no bet. What a finish it was though! Hoping The New One goes on to win the Champion next year and I'd like to see what Zarkandar can do over 3 miles.
Yeah backed him in the champion too! Disappointing that was. he was my only tip in the not606 preview evening not in the first 3 .....
I think The New One got beaten by the circumstances as much as anything today. Im not sure aintree is really going to be his track. It really suits Zarkandar who is a galloper and a grinder and he was able to blunt TNOs turn of foot today. I think cheltenham will prove to be TNOs ideal track as that turn of foot is devastating up the cheltenham hill and i dont think there is much that will be able to cope with it as there are few horses that have the ability to increase their speed up a hill at the end of a race
I haven't watched it back so I may have got it wrong but on course I thought TNO was committed too early by the jockey. Got into a battle with real tough horse but as has been already stated lost very little in defeat.
