Well, he's not really playing a central striking role here (but he gets opportunities to pop up in that position due to Lambert's roaming), and since Liverpool are currently playing Sturridge in that role he'd probably have a better chance of that were he to go there. Completely agree with everything else you said though.
Have we not got any academy prospects up front getting close? Say ready for next season should we get offered a large sum for J Rod? My 7 year old son plays Jake Sinclair all the time on PES2013. Seems quite good. lol
As its made up paper talk, its barely worth defending, but I feel compelled to write this, which is strange, because I've not been home long & I'm pretty hungry. In the summer, when news broke on here that J-rod was signing I was very excited, it seemed like a normal progression removing Rory from our all time highest fee chart. The lad had a tough start to life here, you could see glimpse's of what he could do, but with game time getting in the way it looked to be effecting him in a negative way. He'd banged in 20 odd goals for Burnley the season before, & not just tap ins, he looked to be a very complete player at Championship level. The more games passed, with little playing time & little chance to getting more on the score sheet, the more I felt sorry for him, he looked hungry, you could see a desire to do well. He had to put up with some rotten luck along the way, with some noobs calling him 'one goal' he gets a legitimate one chalked off with a awful decision that might well have started a nice little run for him. However, he hangs in there, putting effort into each performance, & finds himself playing under a new gaffer who seems to know exactly what makes him tick. Things now really look to be falling into place for him, he plays with a smile on his face & has made his starting position his own. MP really gets a great deal from him, along with Yoshida, these two must have benefited the most from our NA parting, & its really good to see. I never doubt what Rickie brings to the team, but I must say, I get excited seeing Jay's name in the line up. The lads earned his paper talk, & in a year we'll discuss the new contract, good times. Ramble over, I'm going to cook something.
No one anywhere near the level of the first team thats for sure. But Sam Gallagher who we signed off of Plymouth is probably our best youth striker. I believe Sinclair has has been put on the wings, in a similar his brother used to play for Swansea.
Even if a stupid offer came in for one our players we should resist. Unless the player is forcing a more through like oxo did I see no much choice and tbh I don't want that type of player around. If we start selling players this will have a negative impact on the whole club. We want players to feel they are here to see out their career at the top of the premiership and improve on this each season!
Seagar is playing above his age group,he is a good goal scorer and a big lad but still needs a couple of years and a long loan period
I am of the opinion that this is just a reporter fishing (or is it phishing) Cannot by any stretch of the imagination see anything in it. I really cannot see his value shooting up to around £20 million either as has been suggested certainly not based on 6/7 goals in the premier. Nor can I see NC or Poch being the slightest bit interested.....
Yeah from what I've seen he's the brightest prospect among the youth team strikers, but he's a way off the first team. He's almost too similar to Billy Sharp to look like first team material, good finisher but maybe doesn't contribute enough in other areas. He's got time to develop his game though. Like Beddy I just can't see them matching our asking price for Rodriguez. It is clear, with those 'the future' banners, that the management see him as being around for the long term.
No offence to Rodriguez, but if Liverpool want to be in the Champions League (ha!) then they need to be looking higher than Jay. If Rodriguez ever becomes good enough to be a regular feature for a top team, it won't be for another five years or so.
I see that Lambert is heading the charts for accurate crosses for the division. JRod needs to impose himself more on the CBs and get his noggen to some of them.
He definitely needs to work on his aerial play, but with Rickie you won't find a better guy to learn from. I see Jay Rod as the ultimate successor to Lambert and I'm sure the club feel the same.
Ha ha! That would be embarrassing, flog Rodriguez and the next day Cortese is outside St Marys holding the ladder whilst Pochettino pulls down the posters!
The boy will be a Saints legend. He will score the winning goal in the Champions League Final in 4 years time and so we will complete the treble. Great stuff Bordeaux wine. Seriously he's ours and he's staying. Why go to that pile of red ****e?
No if about it. He'll be good enough. I think he'll be improving so much that next season or the season after will show even greater improvement and make Jayrod one of the most wanted English strikers.
I'm hopeful that most of our players recognise that they will shine better in our environment with our style than they may elsewhere.
Wellbeck is a great player. So was Heskey. Anyone who says they aren't/weren't is one of the clueless not many goals = **** striker brigade. Similar to Rooney. He will never be the best goalscorer but what he brings to the game creates soooo many goals. Jay is simalr to Wellbeck in my eyes and you could see how intelligent a player Wellvbeck was in that ManU real game. Class act
