Bit of a stretch? You've merely confirmed what I was saying - your regular squad are not all English, the very point that your poster (whose name now escapes me ) was making about our squad in comparison to yours. Maybe I'm wrong, but you do appear to have 3 Egyptians, a Slovenian, A Swiss, a German, a Sengalese and two Nigerians (admittedly one English born) on your books - as well as four Irish-but-mysteriously-still-English. I'll let you off with the two Scotsmen, though - still part of the UK for now. Ok for one club but not for ours apparently. Nice story about your helpful fans by the way.
Bullshitman (i'm guessing it's him) doesn't understand logic. But when it comes to talking bollocks he does it perfectly.
It's a bit academic, as I don't have any issue with your loan players, but just in the name of accuracy, we have two Egyptians who play(and one who doesn't), we do have a Slovenian(though he didn't seem to want to play against you on Tuesday night), the Swiss is never going to get a game unless Stockdale loses a limb, the German is unlikely to ever be seen again, the Senegalese has just come back from injury but will hopefully play from now on, one Nigerian is history(gone to Wednesday and isn't coming back) and the other is a pretend Nigerian from Hounslow.
It's not Hull fans who amuse me mostly but Cardiff. They go on and on about us being Udinese B. Even that is challenging for them as if we were Udinese we would be Udinese C as Granada would have taken B. Then they go on about us being foreign. Now let me think - they are SO proud of being Welsh - but have two Welshmen in their squad and only Bellamy actually plays for them. They shun the Welsh league in favour of the English, they have a raft of foreign players including South Korea, thier owners are Malaysians who understand them so well they changed their colour from Blue to Red and want to change their name too. Those owners pumped in debt of £80 million which is only sustainable if they get promotion and stay up. Visit their board though and you would think they were Welsh as could be and we were jumped up jonny foreigner. Hey ho
I do think its very dodgy that your owners can own 3 clubs, that's what should be stopped not the loan limit, as quite clearly it's a trick open to obvious and huge exploitation. I don't really mean what you're doing by that, imagine if someone bought Man U, Barca, Bayern, Juventus even clubs such as Ajax and Celtic, they would have almost full control of football and champions league money to stick straight in their pockets.
That's what I've had against what's happened with Watford. You should be limited to owning one Club only, not 3 in 3 different League's. The loans are just annoying but that'd be different if I were a Watford fan. The owning 3 Clubs and loaning players between all 3 is just ridiculous.
What you are talking about is 'conflict of interest'. There is plenty of talk on the Hull pages about Bruce playing his son. Should Man U be stopped from loaning players to Posh? Should foriegn owners be prevented from using their influence and money from bringing in players from their own country as happened at Chelsea? All could be seen as conflicts, yet they get little attention. As long as clubs are allowed to operate as separate companies, with separate boards of directors, then there should be no difference in the way that they or any other club operates. While there is little chance of two of the clubs playing each other, there is no problem, but should they meet in a European Cup then things would need to be looked at.
It's not necessarily loaning them between, those loans could still be made anyway regardless, but there hundreds of loopholes to exploit with it. For example when the financial fair play comes in, if Watford want to make a big signing they can't afford without breaking the rules, Udinese could buy the player then loan to Watford at no expense. There's a lot of potential problems with being able to do this, and until this season I didn't know people could own multiples of clubs in different countries. This could set a trend, some sinister people could take advantage and it could be very bad for football.
"There's a lot of potential problems with being able to do this, and until this season I didn't know people could own multiples of clubs in different countries. This could set a trend, some sinister people could take advantage and it could be very bad for football. Having just had a local business man running the club, who is now being chased through the courts to repay monies that have gone missing, I know what you mean. If both Hull and Watford had not been rescued by foriegn owners they could both be in a right mess by now.
I understand the concern but in practice it would be an impossible rule to enforce as many clubs are owned by companies - often with holding companies so you have no idea who the directors / owners really are. For all we know Liverpool and Man U could have the same beneficial owner. As OFH says our last owner was in theory a local businessman but when all went nearly belly up it turned out that he was actually funded mostly by some former people who owned a large percentage in he club but were fired by the club. Nobody had any idea they were involved. I think the loan rule is ridiculous as I cannot see how it matters whether loans are British or not - so sort it out FL and have one rule. However a lot of Cardiff fans keep banging on about us being Udinese B - that is the hypocrisy I was referring to. If you are largely foreign yourselves then don't have a go at Watford for having foreign owners.
With regard to ownership of more than one club - please correct me if I'm wrong - in more than one European country the big clubs either own a lower league club as well or play their reserve teams in a lower league - whilst in the UK I'm almost certain ownership of more than one club within the same league is not allowed. So the rules we have here are different throughout Europe and probably the world with regard to ownership - in fact changing the subject to 3rd party ownership of players, this is very common in other leagues where it assists smaller clubs to compete with the big clubs by being able to 'lease' players which then get sold on at high profit by their agent in the future. This is also not allowed in the UK.
If stopping Man United from loaning players to Posh, also prevents Bruce from playing his son, then I'm all for it.
Our owner is foreign, in that he was born in Egypt, but he's lived in Hull since 1968 and the co-owner(his son), has only ever been to Egypt on holiday. It's rather misleading to say we were rescued by a foreign owner, more accurate to say we were rescued by a local businessman, who happened to be born in Egypt.
He's actually done a decent job when playing as a centre back, but he's never a midfield player in a million years and we're getting frustrated that better options are being left on the bench. We have a player we signed in January, he has 91 international caps, has regularly played defensive midfield, yet hasn't started a game for us yet(just two brief sub appearances, in which he looked pretty good), along with Evans, who replaced him on Tuesday. At least Bruce has said in his press conference today, that Evans and Quinn(who both came on too late on Tuesday night) will both start and junior will be back in defence.
It's not that we don't like him - he's been surprisingly good in defence and I think that there would be few who would argue that he hasn't been a very effective member of the squad. His dad did chose to play him in midfield against one or two more physical teams in order to add a bit of height and muscle in front of our defence (Faye was injured at the time). This certainly worked against Millwall away. However, he offers so little going forwards that, under normal circumstances, he shouldn't really be considered as a midfielder. Many of us were justifiably frustrated by his selection in midfield against Watford as it really limited our attacking options - this was clearly demonstrated when he was subbed in the second half and Quinn and Evans got a rather belated grip on the game. So, he's a good lad, has done well for us and earned his place in the squad but is only worth considering as a purely defensive player.
And Pozzo jnr. who is being regarded as our owner is now living, or about to, with his family in England.
I wish you would stop saying a lot of Cardiff fans, I am perfectly happy for any team to get the best players they can. It is credit that any championship side can attract quality players and that can only be good for the league. Basically if we sign anyone who turns out to be no good no one blinks an eye. With teams coming down from the premiership holding onto their best players how are we supposed to compete? The problem for some Cardiff fans is the long standing attacks on how our club is run and you will get retaliation but in fairness we get more coming at us than most teams. I just want my team to do well against good opposition so we can all enjoy the sport. jck
