That sucks big time... I'm going this year so just escape the rise in fees, but I'm not sure if I would have gone if I had to pay £9k.

I'll be in my final year when the 9k fees come in. Does anybody know like, if my uni opts to go for the big fees (which they probably will, as most unis will) does it mean new students from that year onwards will pay the increased fees and current students will escape it (seems a bit harsh to hit me with stupid fees in my last year), or will everyone have to pay the full whack regardless? that bit hasn't exactly been clarified...

Pretty sure it only applies to those starting their degree. Otherwise you'd have too many people complaining that they began the course under the impression that it would cost x amount of money and that they would never have applied to university if they knew it would cost y.

At my uni we've been told if we apply for a Masters that we'll get it at the old rate as we started studies before the fees came in and if you were at uni doing a bachelors before the higher fees you won't be charged them.
I'd ask around though, do you have student liasion officers at your uni for your course? If so I'd email them as that's their job to relay info between the students and the uni!

I start in September and have been informed that I'll be paying the pre-rise fees for the whole 3 years.

    cheers lads <ok>

Possibly, but I have no idea to be honest haha. I'll ask around.

Just searched on my uni site.. must've been put up recently as I checked not that long ago... my unis course fees are rising to 8k. But "If you are a current student and have started your course before September 2012 you will not have to pay the new fee, and will remain on your existing fee structure."
I assume most, if not all, universities are doing the same thing then.

8000 is ridiculous. That's 24 grand just for course fees over 3 years. The debt people are going to be in is stupidly high.
Read a statistic that the average debt that students currently come out of uni with is higher than the average annual wage of young people or something. The debt average is going to totally eclipse the wage average from 2012 onwards.

Wey that's the point, they're complaining about West Ham, when a lot of other Premier League clubs have their away tickets priced higher than that (at least they were for us). Unless the smaller games get a discount?

I mean I'm not saying high prices are right, but it's a sign of the times (especially as West Ham is in London and it's the last game of the season).

I'm 99.9999% sure that you won't have to pay the £9k...
