Because they know that there will be a massive gamble on SEABASS and he will go of favourite for the national Stick. What price is he to go off fav?
A couple of outsiders in the handicaps for me tomorrow. Taking a big chance on WEST WITH THE WIND 33-1 4.15. He has been given a break having put in two miserable runs but back at a track he likes he can go very well fresh and for me is worth taking a chance on. I really like MANY CLOUDS but have to desert him tomorrow in favour of CONNECTIVITY 20-1 5.25. He looked a very progressive good ground handicapper two years ago winning as he liked on two occasions before getting injured. He ran a nice comeback on unsuitable ground behind Kaylif Aramis last time. He has been dropped 5lbs for that and now on his favoured surface he looks set to go well. the good Doctor has been having a decent season and this one could be the icing on the cake.
I have a Shoo in for tommorow in the shape of QUITO DE LA ROQUE @ 10/1 in the 2.30 Aintree! This fella lost his way abit after an impressive novice campaign, and a G1 win in open company in the Irish champion chase, but he looked back to his best LTO at Thurles, and is massively over priced to win the Bowl tommorow! He was a course and distance G1 winner here as a novice, and of all the main protagonists he is the only one who comes here fresh, having bypassed Cheltenham, as Aintree has always been the main target for him. The likes of Silviniaco Conti, First Lieutenant, The Giant Bolster, Cape Tribulation and Menorah all had tough races 3 weeks ago, whilst Quito De La Roque was sat at home in his stable with his feet up! Alot of people seem to think Quito De La Roque needs soft ground, but he doesn't, having won a G1 here on good ground! Il be having my maximum bet on him tommorow, and I rarely do that on a horse at a double figure price, but thats how strongly i fancy him to do the business! Would be interested to hear what the rest of you think on his chances tommorow?
I think that with all the media hyping up the fact a women could win it for the first time and the fact Seabass has a great chance then yes they will steam into it, plus I saw that Stan James fella say as much on ATR LOL.
Was it this day a couple of yrs ago that you that amazing trble shergs I seem to remember one of those horses was QDLR!!
Evening gents, hopefully you get to Aintree on time............. a couple i fancy at a sort price who didnt perform as they were expected and should go better here and a few nice EW priced ones. In the 2.00 ROLLING STONES 5/2 is one i had expected much more from at Cheltenham, however, he pulled hard early on. If he comes back to his early form i see no reason why he cant have the beating of Irish Saint again and win this. In the 2.30 FIRST LIEUTENANT 100/30 has struggled to win this term nut he has some very useful form in book and none so in particular than creditable places behind BOBS WORTH, CUE CARD and TIDAL BAY if those races havent taken too much out of him i reckon he can run the very useful SILVIANACO CONTI very close indeed. In the 3.05 GRANDOUET 4/1 was travelling as well as any when he came down in the Champion Hurdle and i certainly feel as if he would have given HURRICANE FLY a run for his money, if that fall hasnt taken too much out of him i think he could go close and is the one to beat. 3.40 BOXER GEORGE 16/1 (EW) has been laid out for this year on year and whilst he is getting no older and his recent form isnt great for me he will be stripped fit and should give me a good run for my money and be there or there abouts turning for home, his form against BABY RUN in this even two years ago sticks in my mind and his run this time last year where he ran Cheltenham winner BIG SCHU to within half a length is the stand out form for me. 4.15 OISEAU DE NUIT 12/1 EW was travelling best of all in this race two years ago when the jockey lost his ironsbut ran on gamely when a close second to SILK DRUM and is 1lb better off here, LTO he in the Grand Annual at Cheltenham he has a tongue tie fitted which looked to work and another run like that could see him go close. At an even bigger price with the drying ground and a nice weight WEST WITH THE WIND 33/1 EW looks a nice EW prospect and with conditions continuing to dry out he is worth a shout. 4.50 CARLO BRIGANTE 8/1 form isnt great but the stable are starting to knock the winners in after a barren spell, his ability is much better than his recent runnings and LTO at Cheltenham he was hampered badly when PU, that run is best forgotten and is worth some of my EW money. Finally in the lucky last im plumping of for the very talented but unpredictable BABY SHINE 16/1 EW who ran a very gallant race here last year aganst the very talented SIMONSIG when third with SUPER DUTY in second, nothing that good on show here, ground should suit and is worth a punt. Good luck to all tomorrow and have a great day Oddy, hope the sun shines down on you
No it was the Thursday of Cheltenham 2 years ago, haha! Still remember the 3, Noble Prince 6/1, Albertas Run 6/1 and Big Bucks 5/4. I did advise QDLR at Aintree though that year, think he was like 7/1 that day as no one thought he'd go on the ground. I only wish I could rediscover that sort of form again!
Hi all My local stomping ground awaits tomorrow, quick 2 minute walk and ill be straight into the betting ring armed to the teeth with brown envelopes. 2:00 Ruacana Think the front 2 will take some beating, but I like the look of this boy. Ran on well to finish behind two decent sorts in Ireland (one being our Conor) and ran ok at cheltenham think the flatter track will suit him and can see him being in the frame at a decent price tomorrow. 3:40 Bold addition Very impressive in his last two starts in particular lto in Warwick when he made a mockery of the field. Fancy him to carry on his good run here and will give anyone a run for their money. Like Countrywide Flame in the hurdle but can't be getting involved at 4s in such a competitive field,
My problem with Grandouet is that he travelled all over Zarkandar and Rock On Ruby at Cheltenham earlier in the season but was beaten, and then he fell before he was tested last time. I just can't be sure what he is, he could easily win, but he could easily flatter. Not a race I am getting involved in, too much post Cheltenham hangover about the races tomorrow, too many ifs. SC is the prime example, and he is against horses who have to get over tough festival races too. I wouldn't be surprised to see some shock results tomorrow, but I would be guessing big style if I was to put up a selection in most of the races. Tough racing methinks.
Quite a few fancies tomorrow but nothing out of the ordinary that hasnt been discussed already in the thread. 2.00 - I think that given the better ground and the fact he skipped Cheltenham we will see a turnaround of form to Rolling Star. He gave Vasco du Ronceray 3lbs on his latest win(Grade1) on good ground and that horse has gone on to finish in front of Rolling Star at Cheltenham. There must be a huge worry about how Rolling Star copes with the ground today and like a few others already im sticking with Irish Saint. Irish Saint - win 3/1 2.30 - Based on form this year this should be a straight shootout between Silviniaco Conti and First Leiutenant, Silviniaco has C&D form and obviously given his fall will be a little bit fresher aslong as the fall didnt effect him. Silviniaco will take all the beating here and aslong as he runs his race should be there at end. My E/W pick in this race will be Quito De La Roque, he also has C&D form here and ran a belting race as a novice on good ground. Back to form at Thurles LTO beating Roi Du Mee who has gone on to frank the form with back to back wins(both in grade 2 company). The ground will suit and he runs fresh having skipped Cheltenham and should play a big part in this. Silviniaco Conti - Win EVS / Quito De La Roque - EW 8/1 3.05 - Aside from Our Conor, The New One for me was the most impressive victory at Cheltenham for me. The burst of pace up that hill to come away from 2 very decent animals was superb and no surprise that Twisters has sent him against his elders. Alot of his opponents are 2m horses up in trip, Grandeout looks the biggest danger of these. He was travelling sweetly before tipping over quite a bit out, his biggest worry will be his stamina over this extra half mile. Oscar Whiskey has won this the past 2 years but had yet another disappointing festival and his hunger has to be questioned, he has been abandoned by his regular pilot also. Thousand Stars will carry my E/W money. He has been beaten here by a Neck to Oscar Whiskey the last 2 years but for the first time he comes here fresh without a run at Cheltenham. He has struggled over bad ground at home but will relish this surface and would surprise me if hes not fighting it out at the end once again. The New One(NAP) - Win 4/1(W Hill after 8.30 2moro) / Thousand Stars - EW 9/1 Other bets for tomorrow are: 3.40 - Gwanako 4.50 - ***o 5.25 - Lienosus EW
Fair enough, do you have any other fancys tommorow? I'm thinking of backing both Oscar Whisky and Thousand Stars in the Aintree hurdle, and may even go for a reverse forecast aswell, a bet I rarely do. I just think those 2 are the 2 with the proven course and distance form, were as the others still have question marks. I would just back OW on his own, but I'm a little worried something could be wrong with him after the way he flopped at the festival so alarmingly, and the way Geraghty has deserted him. That's why I'm doing Thousandstars aswell. I do like Grandouet also, but he's a little to unproven for me to be backing him at that price
Day off work tomorrow to take in the racing - lovely !!! Just the one bet for me tomorrow ... Zarkandar Each way in the hurdle race..... Blinkers on and Ruby back on top will work some magic ...Was disappointed in him in the Champion Hurdle but think he's gonna go well tomorrow..tough horse and Aintree s track will suit better than Cheltenhams old course.. plus the extra distance.. Rubys record on him is 1 , 1 ,F. That will do me !!
I don't get Grandouet and I never have. That's not me knocking him or his backers. But I don't see any form in the book that makes me think he should be the price he is. I'll be excited if he wins as he'll have to be bloody good to beat this lot but I just really don't get him and all the love for him. Barry choosing him has made me sit up a bit I will admit.
As I've said before, straight after the Gold Cup I was convinced we were robbed of the winner when Silviniano came down and proceeded to take the 12/1 for next year! I therefore feel the evs on offer for tomorrow is massive and he will be far too good for these! Also I jumped on the 8/1 for The New One for next year after his win as I was ultra impressed in the way he quickened to beat what I feel will prove to be a very good field, still has lots to prove but I feel he could be a bit special and therefore will double him up with Silviniano Big single - Silviniano Double - Silviniano and The New One
If you don't rate Grandouet's form, then il assume you don't rate Zarkandars form either. Don't forget Zarkandar only narrowly beat him getting 4 pounds from him in the Interbational hurdle, on ground that was far more suitable for Zarkandar
