    Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Julio Cesar looks likely to leave the club in the summer and head back to Italy to join AC Milan.

    Rangers signed the 33-year-old Brazil international from Inter Milan last August in one of the most surprising transfer deals of the summer.

    But while Cesar has impressed for Rangers, he has not been able to help the club climb away from the bottom of the Premier League. Harry Redknapp’s side are seven points adrift of safety with just seven games of the season to go.
    Cesar (right) will not stay at Loftus Road if QPR are relegated to the Championship and Milan hope to lure him back to the San Siro.

    He won 14 major honours during his seven years with Milan’s fierce rivals Inter, including five Serie A titles, three Coppa Italias and the Champions League.

    I think it is obvious the players listed below will leave.

    Cesar
    Samba
    Remy
    Taarabt

    The question is, who else will go????

    Barton and Cisse will probably be sold too.

    We would need to lose several of our big earners. I'd be thinking along the lines of;

    Cesar
    Bosingwa
    Samba
    Park
    SWP
    Barton
    Remy
    Cisse

    I think we could start by keeping our better young players;
    Onouha CB
    Traore LB
    Adel ACM
    Hoilett LM
    Diakite DCM
    M'Bia DCM/CM/CB
    This would give us a serious foundation going forward with players who could develop a bond together and all are capable of playing Prem football together on promotion.

    and then add some experience and grit with the likes of;
    Green
    A fit Zamora
    Hill
    Mackie
    Jenas
    AJ
    Derry

    if the worse was to happen, it could be a long term blessing in disguise, change the policy of dealing with kia joorbachan and the like, and go for the young Jordan Rhodes etc, mixed with a few experienced players, not the big name, big wages players, they are not hungry enough, and did not see many players applaud the rangers fans on monday

    Nuts - i think that list is pretty spot on. And hope that would give us the basis for a solid team.

    I also am of the opinion that this may not be the last we see of Adel, as i can't see any big clubs coming in for him. He may be tempted by an offer overseas at a lower to midtable club though.

    Thats what I think, get over signing 30+ players and getting players with resale value. People know I banged on about that in the summer even before it went tits up.

    We have some good players, we just need more with the right attitude once the mercenaries piss off when we go down.
    We can also think about Faurlin coming back too, we know hes good enough for the NPC.

    There's several on the first list that I would like to keep, I suppose the question is can we afford to keep them?

    Also, many of them have supposedly said they will stay if we go down. Do any of us really believe that.

    Col, I'd love to keep most of the above and let them try and redeem themselves next year by winning promotion. I just can't see how we could afford to keep most of those on my first list. If our owners are funding this from their own pockets then happy days, I just can't see that either.
    Pruning our squad (if we go down) would actually indicate the first common sense approach to our squad that I will have seen in two years. It would indicate that perhaps our owners have learned some vital lessons in club ownership such as the necessity to build solid foundations first and also that you just can't buy success overnight.
    That's why I hope we keep our younger players. I'm fed up seeing a dozen new players arriving every transfer window. We have very few club heroes who have been here more than two or three years. I know we are trying to build a club in the background but let's stop putting the horse before the cart. Lets get the team right.

    Frankly, on the evidence of recent games Cesar is little better than Green. In fact, Green has looked ripped, relaxed and composed of late, whereas Cesar appears to be lacking confidence and has looked like the proverbial rabbit in the headlights. His performances in the last handful of games reminded me a bit of Kenny: reasonable shot-stopper, but unable to either keep hold of the ball or touch it out of play.

    Can it be a coincidence that Cesar's club form has dipped since he's been reselected by Brazil?

    I do actually think Taarabt will stay - maybe not because he wants to completely but whos going to by him? He hasnt really proved himself in the PL. Hopefully that means we keep him as we all know what he can do in the championship.

    I would love to keep Remy as you dont find finishers like him very often, and we are going to have to let him go most likely to another PL team. Gutting.

    Average pre bonus wage in the championship last year was a little over 4K per week before bonuses.

    How we can sensibly justify 50K per week for Green let alone all the other "lower earners" is beyond me.

    If we go down then it's going to be another expensive gamble....
