It is not for all our posters Billy but for some it clearly is a 'us versus them' thing. I think it is perfectly clear who that applies to and it certainly is to me considering some of the PM's I have received! Probably the case for some Man Utd fans too.
I wasn't talking about you Billy. Just some. 6Ds for instance will never accept someone being unbanned simply due to them being a United fan. Sad but true.
Fair enough lads that may well be true. It certainly isn't the case with NOF. It's nothing to do with him being a manc it's simply because he's a thick twat who posts more junk than my postman.
Let's be honest. There have been a number of posters from both clubs who have sought to disrupt threads or merely insult. Add to that the times when posters do experience the red mist during heated debate. The simple fact appears to be that on this board, at least, a number of posters have become sick and tired of it.
Not being funny mate, but those who are shouting the loudest are generally those who will engage in those 'scuffles' & are no better nor worse than those they are decrying in the main. It's a multi club forum, if posters don't want to engage with fans of other clubs, then they're on the wrong site, it's really no more complicated than that really.
Ok, maybe I'm being a thick twat here. Do all bans have to be put through the supermod and unbans? Is there a possibility of the board mods in agreement like Gerrez has stated happens anyway having 24hr to 5 day bans for people who are just being annoying or have descended into the red mist & got personal? That way the supermod isn't hassled as much? And posters who maybe have got heated rather than malicious get back without this type of rancour? So we on the board know its a "naughty step" ban. Transparency & all that jazz. Those seeing threads deliberately disrupted see it solved and those wanting a more open forum don't feel like the ban hammer leaves such a permanent indent I'm not taking about people who've used tragedies etc. Also don't want to add to mods workrate either (thought this might simplify it). It just seems they're running backwards & forwards trying to please everyone and pleasing no one you poor sods lol. As I say maybe I'm just describing what actually happens & I'm just being thick this morning.
Mornin. I don't think that's right. I truly believe that you make a concious decision to visit another clubs sight. It's therefore up to you how you are going to behave. Therefore if that club's supporters take offence its up to you to either leave or change your behaviour. You may not like that but they do have the right to control their board as they feel fit.
I agree, if I visit another board I do try to understand that I may have to change the way I word things or it will mean that I get a negative response straight away. A bit of respect that you are on another teams board doesn't hurt.
I take your point & I largely agree, aside from the last sentence, as that means that you'd have every 'board' applying it's own subjective opinion, as to what goes & what doesn't. That can never be right.
Again that's a generalisation that doesn't ring true. I'm shouting loud (with my phone keypad?) yet as you know I'm perfectly capable of doing enjoying a bit of banter whilst keeping it (mainly) football related. Just because it's a multi club forum doesn't mean certain posters should be free to degenerate any thread they choose does it? I don't go on your board (if it's still there) to constantly wind up blues or the United board to constantly degenerate their threads. If others do that then they deserve to be booted off. Just as most of those booted off ours have fully deserved it. It's really no more complicated than that
Like I said Saint. I don't mean everyone. Far from. You must be able to see the ones I'm referring too though ?
But the people you are talking about also have a right to rant and rave on their own board. Just like Christian does on yours.
I think you're generalising as well though, as it doesn't follow that a poster who has some banter, can't also have a good debate. What happens here is that you get certain posters who shout 'wum' merely because they find the opinion being put forward unpalatable & they're objecting to the mere presence of the poster / alternative opinion. I'd say more often than not, the mud starts getting slung by the 'home' side, before the 'aways' fire back & very often it's without good reason imo.
It certainly is right on our board as we elect the mods to run it as they see fit. If we disagree with them we can PM them or have a discussion about it just like this (as can any other poster). This is democracy and isn't the Sunderland board ya know
So basically Billy, what you're asking for is some manners? To talk to each other & engage in a discussion the same way you would if face to face. Which can include heated disagreement, banter etc. And if you aren't evolved enough to manage that you shouldn't be engaging with other human beings and if you are deliberately ignoring simple manners then you'll be treated with a ban. Which is much nicer than would happen to you than if you did the physical equivalent and walked into an opposition teams pub & started calling them ****ers or murderers something tells me the "you shouldn't be out in public if you can't accept a bit of name calling argument" wouldn't quite save you......
